I loathed Starmer because he could be so self righteous, but was really just a continuity establishment man. Thatcher did so much more harm - the decline started with her. I’m pleased to see Burnham calling that out - bucking the trend of every PM for 40+ years - hope he backs it up with policies.

I say this is someone who hasn’t released a book of their own for a good while, but one of the hardest things about being an indie comics creator is releasing a book you’ve spent years working on to complete indifference, not just from the audience but also from the comics press.

Spot on. This is because anxiety is a common symptom of autism that comes with a bunch of other symptoms conveniently ignored by the right who would much prefer their taxes were sucked up by the super rich than actually used to help people in need.

I keep hearing those on the right saying that people are getting huge disability payments for having mild anxiety. I was diagnosed with severe anxiety several years ago. Where's my money? Oh yeah, that's right, nobody gets disability payments for anxiety...

I think we’re largely in agreement - tribalism and other selfish behaviours still dominate the human condition because they yielded a reproductive advantage for the genes that code those behaviours in evolutionary time. But we’re not in evolutionary time now, so we should use our big brains instead.

Not quite. That’s tribalism. Which is again evolved behaviour to ensure the individual’s genes spread advantageously (by pairing with the same genes in reproduction). I’m not sure humans have ever yet prioritised their own species but there is at least hope we have capacity to.

All life tends to behave in a way that enhanced individual reproductive fitness in evolutionary time. However, having a brain capable of subverting evolved behaviours also enhanced individual reproductive fitness. Hence humans can prioritise the species over individuals… if they’re clever enough! 😊
