Highbridge crew: Shogum and Ginra bring fish from the sea. Maxi brings a decadent dessert. Ash brings food cubes and gets cursed. Cyberpunk: After trying to shoot the spirit, they find a fancy bakery and bring scones and croissants. Other: Lahayne brings a tea blend she got from a dryad ages ago.

#Octember Superhero: They are told novelty is key, so bring something that isn't in a forest. Half (Aura, Sonata and Sprocket) bring sweets. Cake, candy and chocolate. Half (Victoriel, Feychilde and The Operative) bring booze. Two wines and scotch. Halimede rounds it out making an ice scultpure.

#SundaySnips I'm surprised I had the specific word this time. I was positive I was going to have to use a synonym. A thief is gathering intel on the location of the first heist; the estate of one of the city's founding families. Sadly it hasn't reached "abandoned haunted mansion" status yet.
He took the coins and slid them over to his side of the table. “We’ll start with the easy stuff. His estate is in the middle of the second level, on the southern side. You’ve probably passed it a few times. The family gave back most of the land, reworked it into a public park, and walled off the part of it that still belongs to them.” I raised an eyebrow while trying to recall. I’d walked through the park a few times; one of the few spaces where there were trees growing in that sector. A quaint trail for people to enjoy a replication of old world nature and space for kids to run around and play. The mansion was out of the way for those out on a stroll, and it always seemed a little eerie. It was too well-maintained to be spooky, but it just seemed so old-fashioned and out of place. Never thought about who owned the place.

#Octember Fantasy: Find the food he likes the most use it to lure Big G back into the sea. Superhero: Fight him, fail, but realize there’s been a misunderstanding caused by a third factor, probably some evil kaiju or aliens. Find it, team up and part ways peacefully. The comics team-up classic!

#pretendpanel Myself. But I'll be glad if someone else likes it. I can think of one example of writing for an audience: I used to write for the players in the games I'd run, but I haven't GMed a game in a while. Writing backstory stuff for the GMs to use so we all have a fun time counts as well.

Superhero: Victoriel forms the legs. Aura creates a series of light constructs to hold steady. Sonata’s melodious tones charm guests. They’ve infiltrated a supervillain meeting to figure out who the mastermind is. They argue over the alias and settle on “Fortissima”, hoping it sounds evil enough.

Cyberpunk: Marionette constructs a drone to be the legs and hopes the trenchcoat hides the treads. She’s still grumpy that she has to hold Darius for charisma checks. They’re at a party trying to rob everyone there to steal info and assets. He gets fingerprints from handshakes, she hacks phones.

#LitHodgepodge 2 Ash and the Highbridge crew are in Leverage. They’d spend an episode learning a new wonder of the modern world and use it to steal stuff. The Protectors wind up in the MCU and primarily explore the magic-based corners of it. Something that hasn’t been adapted already.

A 7 panel comic by the artist. First panel: The artist is running from a distance towards a group of people playing basketball in the park. The artist is holding a pumpkin above their head and screaming "AAAAAAAAA". Second panel: The artist has leapt up and is in position to slam dunk the pumpkin into the basketball hoop. Panel three: the pumpkin splatters violently against the backboard of the basketball hoop, sending orange pumpkin goop everywhere. Panel four: the players stand staring, covered in pumpkin goop and shocked. Panel five: the artist stares at them wide-eyed, also covered in the goop and says "it's October FIRST". Their hand reaches towards their face. Panel six: the artist rips off their own face like a rubber mask to reveal a skeleton beneath. Panel 7: the group of players stand shocked and horrified, watching as the skeleton falls to the ground in a pile of bones, the sound effects says "CLATTER".

#Octember Ash would work for a dragon. They’ve got lots of gold and can come in benevolent varieties. The cyberpunk duo work for a genie. They think they’ll word their wish right. (they won’t) Lahayne *has* worked for folklore creatures, so she’d put “n/a”. Same with the new superhero characters.

I wouldn’t argue against that point. Plus the long story’s main heroine is part of a team made up of magic/mythology based heroes like Dr. Strange or Moon Knight, so the line between the two is even blurrier.

Today's #WIPSnips is the very first paragraph of the #Dogwood1 prologue! I'll be doing HOUND FATALE snips through November to (hopefully not obnoxiously) let people know the book is available for preorder 🥰
When Owen was very small, before he was “Owen” at all, he lived in the old church in the woods with the other orphans, playing in the weeds amongst the crumbling headstones, eating cold tinned stew and peaches in syrup. They were wild things with dirty faces, but never truly without guardians, for the wolves watched them always from the woods encroaching like a rising sea.

So here he sat, waiting for his cue, guarded and held back until the right moment. Like that troublesome uncle at a wedding whose arrival makes everyone just a little uncomfortable.

#WIPSnips The first obstacle of the first heist… is beaten by a very low-tech solution. The extra cushioning will come in handy later in the job. #writesky #writingcommunity
The manor was in sight, and the guards were the optimal distance away. It was time to make my move. Running up to the wall, I was already reaching to my back, unzipping the pack and unrolling the contents inside. The first obstacle was a wall of enchanted ivy with supernaturally long thorns. The solution? Cover the thorns. I unfurled a thick blanket over the wall, using the thorns to hook it into place. Rostoyan's money made sure I was able to afford an extra thick one, and I scrambled to the other side of the wall like it was nothing. Low magic solutions were always preferable to needless uses of the arcane. Sure it was harder, but it conserved strength and had less of a chance of an unforeseen reaction. It took some yanking and flapping to get it off, and there were bits of it left on the wall, but nobody would be able to see it in the dark.

This week’s #MondayReads is Have You Seen Romit by Chital Mehta. Picked this up at the Delaware Authors Forum. The book is about an old mother trying to find her lost adopted son, going against the rest of her family and societal expectations of what she can do. 💙📚 #amreading #booksky #tbr
The cover for the book Have You Seem Romit? by Chital Mehta. The cover has a fair bit of abstraction, with shadowy mountains in the distance and green and yellow hills in the front, with the loose silhouette of a woman in a red sari walking towards the mountains.

Digital painting of a nature god. He has dark brown skin, long dark red hair and green eyes. He's naked, only wearing a flower crown and is covered with a large white snake with red diamond patterns.Digital painting of a faun boy in a pond. He has brown skin with white spots, akin to a deer's coat. He has blonde hair and blue eyes and small antlers on his head. He stands hip deep in a magical pond, holding a small blue fairy in his hands. Waterfalls feeds the pond, surrounded by otherworldly deep teal leaves and bushes with purple flowers.Digital painting of a fairy mid-flight. She has brown skin, copper red hair in a high ponytail, and amber eyes. She's dressed in clothes made of leaves and grass, and armor made of bark. She has large, iridescent dragonfly wings on her back and aim a bow at something off-screen. The background is a blurry sunlit forest, giving the illusion of movement.Digital full body painting of Serara from my book WIP. She's a plus size dark skinned young woman with dark curly hair and green eyes. She's dressed in a blue tunic with purple and gold pattern and blue pants. A green scarf is draped over her shoulders and she has a pink bag slung over her shoulder. The background is mostly white with a photo of a misty forest in a pale teal color.

4ALark: If you fell in love with someone and got married and lived with them for nine years and then found out they were on America’s Most Wanted, would you turn them in?
Coppertype: …Is this happening to you right now?
4ALark: Asking for a friend.
Coppertype: Am I American in this scenario? Or would I have to deal with extradition issues?
4ALark: THAT’S THE MOST IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION???
Coppertype: Sorry, sorry. Don’t know what came over me. What I meant to ask was, how sexy is my felon husband, scale one to ten?
4ALark: Better. Hang on, let me check.
4ALark: Maybe a six?
Coppertype: How the hell were you checking that? Is he in the room with you?

#SundaySnips - TURN From the STONES OF AYOR series I'm trying to write, based on the fantasy RPG video game from LEVEL UP. Sammy (Luscoe) uses his skills at circumventing locks to get them into an old ruined temple.
Luscoe continued to turn pieces of the lock until a carved-out shape appeared in the centre of them, a shape that closely resembled a hand print. Hadley watched, fascinated, as Luscoe pressed his hand into the indentation, and the whole mechanism clicked forward, illuminating with blue magic before splitting the door open wide.
“Well,” Luscoe said, brushing off his hands with a satisfied nod, “it’s not the most high-security, but I guess it would stop anyone without an ounce of sense. Or hands.”

#SundaySnips From an urban fantasy WIP currently on the backburner. The start of one of the plotlines. Something is causing blessings (and curses, as the protag learns later) in an area to start glitching out.
“They’re being answered. But they’re coming out wrong.” He picked one. A request for a good performance at a new play’s opening night. The actor put on the performance of his life, only for a light to fall and catch fire. He pointed to another; a child praying for a puppy. Somehow that turned into a mob of squirrels occupying their porch. A prayer that had been marked to be ignored somehow resulted in an entire high school basketball team getting sick before the regional finals, exactly as one desperate player hoped for.
