Once vivid/stasis 5.0 releases, you'll be able to select -digital:boundary- as a launch option on Steam. As a reminder, -digital:boundary- is an "alternate cut" of the game intended for players interested in the story but not as much the rhythm game features. (It's still a rhythm game, though.)

Sonic Mania

Stands as one of if not THE most highly-polished, quality Sonic games, and a great introduction to the 2D style of Sonic, especially for a good price! It also doesn't eat your resources like Origins does.

SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS

A crash course on Sonic Team Boost, and a fantastic package. If you want high-speed thrills, this is your best bet.

Sonic Adventure DX

While not on PlayStation and Switch (not to mention the port being a bit iffy), Sonic Adventure is easy to learn, yet hard to master. It'll also prepare for the sense of variety most 3D Sonic games have.

Sonic Triple Trouble 16-bit

A Classic Sonic fan game that stacks up with official titles, and is completely free. You can't beat free, can you? Come on now. Oh, and play Penny's Big Breakaway, too! It's a bit hard to get into, but it's one of the best platformers ever made.
