What’s a poster you had in your room growing up? I had a… thing for Reba when I was a kid. I had this 24x36 poster above my bed. It moved with us a few times. I also had a cool Wolverine poster that I got out of a Previews catalog my dad brought home once, but I can’t find a picture of that.

Dear Kansas Board of Regents,
My name is Anthony Maltese, a former Kansas resident from 1990-2004, University of Kansas
graduate, and professional paleontologist specializing in the sea life of ancient Kansas. It has been
recently disclosed that Fort Hays State University intends to close the Sternberg Museum of Natural
History, with likely serious consequences to both its staff and collections. I cannot think of a more
disastrous and short-sighted response to a budget shortfall. Over the past three decades of my
career, I have worked closely with the Sternberg Museum excavating fossils with staff, using the
museum for research, leading field trips for students and professionals, and making replicas of
specimens that educate museum visitors worldwide. The collections housed at the museum are an
irreplaceable record of the history, both modern and ancient, of Kansas and are unique in that they
are housed in the area where they were excavated from.
The collections are so important that I have helped donate many scientifically significant specimens to
the museum, understanding this places them in the public trust for perpetuity. Budget decisions are
difficult; however, the destruction of this extremely valuable institution is not a reasonable solution.
While I no longer reside in Kansas, I think about the Sternberg Museum on a nearly daily basis and
use its holdings to advance our understanding of what came before us. Destroying this vast resource
is absolutely the wrong thing to do to address these problems. Keep the Sternberg Museum.

IMO don't eat anything with activated charcoal, period. It's meant as a medication and needs to stop being used in everything just for the cool factor. If you're taking important medications especially avoid it because it'll likely mess with them.

i get why AI is so depressing to me. because covid already shrunk my world to almost nothing, where almost all of my life revolves around socializing and watching videos on the internet (which is being ruined by AI) and creating creative works through coding (which is being ruined by AI), often using open source tools and libraries (which are being ruined by AI)

i already had so little and now even that is being rotted away before my eyes
