Dzando et al. identify locally relevant frailty thresholds for older people in Sub-Saharan Africa through Receiver Operating Characteristic analysis and random-effects meta-analysis. It would be much clearer to call these studies differential methylation analyses, analogously to differential expression. THAT is actually the relevant reference in terms of hypothesis, model and caveats, rather than GWAS.
