One thing about people citing slower car travel times on Bloor West following the bike lane install is, well, that was kind of the point. Drivers were **averaging** nearly 20 km/h over the current speed limit at spots. Road revamp has brought speeds closer to limit. www.toronto.ca/wp-content/u...
Two bar charts comparing average and 95th percentile vehicle speeds in km/h across five Toronto locations over three time periods (2021/23, 2024, 2025/26), with a posted speed limit of 40 km/h indicated by a dotted line.

I admit I did not expect to see this particular Talmudic deep cut in our national press, but let me tell you, MY community can think of a few Jews this description applies to better than Avi Lewis. Extremely dangerous and incendiary nonsense…
Jewish law developed two character sketches to describe such scenarios. The first is known as a “mosar” — a Jewish person who informs to oppressive authorities, potentially leading to the imprisonment, torture or death of community members. The second, called a “rodef,” refers to a Jew who is actively pursuing another with the intent to harm or kill them. In both scenarios, the law is clear that a Jew is duty-bound to step in. Protecting the community and its members is the most important thing.

To do the math here you first have to fix a basic error: Bradford’s 2026 figure includes the rate budget (garbage, water, parking) but his 2011 figure does not. Real numbers: $9.4 billion in 2011; $16.6 billion in 2026. Now account for ~800K population growth and ~40% inflation.

I've seen everyone sharing that US Dialect Quiz so I decided to make my own, much crappier, CANADIAN DIALECT QUIZ to guess where in Canada you're from
A flow chart I have created with multiple questions and the answers determine where you're from.

Question 1 is do you call it a hydro bill (which then branches down to ON, QC, BC, MB) or an electric bill (which then branches down to SK, AB, NS, NB, PEI, NL)

Question 2 is do you call it a cabin (BC, MB, AB, SK) cottage (ON and atlantic) camp (northern Ontario) chalet (QC) or bungalow (Cape Breton)

To delineate BC from MB: do you call it dinner or supper

To delineate southern Ontario rural or big city: have you heard of a stag & doe

To delineate SK from AB: do you call a hoodie a bunnyhug

And finally to delineate NL from the other atlantic provinces: whaddayat? (Correct answer: dis is it b'y)

It’s interesting. Hard to poll for this, but given the current positioning of Carney’s LPC, I suspect when we see poll movements like this, it reflects NDP peeling off people who “lent” their vote to LPC in 2025 election, while LPC in turn gains from the usual Lib/Con swing voters!

Bradford also does the bike-lanes-belong-on-side-streets thing. Would be great if proponents of this kind of thinking could show us a map. Which streets? How do they lead to a cycling network that’s actually useful? Aren’t a lot of the places that cyclists want to get to on main streets?
“I'm a city planner and a cyclist. I want more people on bikes in this city, not fewer. I also want less congestion, and for everyone to make it home safely and on time,” said Bradford. “Toronto is sitting on the largest ravine system in the world and hydro corridors that run for kilometres in every direction. And our residential neighbourhoods have quiet, welcoming streets. Build the network there, keep it plowed in the winter, and everybody gets what they actually want. Cyclists ride without fighting trucks for space, drivers get their lanes back, and businesses get their customers back.”

Also: crime is not at an all-time high. What are we even doing here.
“She came in with a bizarre vendetta against car owners, but at this point, she seems to have abandoned transit-goers as well. It reaches a point where you’ve got to take stock and say enough is enough, and we demand better from our city,” said Bradford.

With crime and cost-of-living at all-time highs, rampant congestion is yet another strike against Mayor Chow’s sorry record in office. The people of Toronto are tired of gridlock galore, and impatient to reach their destinations. The writing’s on the wall. Enough is enough.

I guess you could argue that the mayor should try to play a more active role in Metrolinx scheduling (good luck!) but five of the six transit closures the Bradford campaign highlights here are provincially-run services.

TTC Line 1 is down from St George to Sheppard West on Sunday.
UP Express every thirty minutes instead of every fifteen.
Lakeshore West Line cut to half-hour intervals between Oakville GO and Union
One-hour intervals between Union and West Harbour GO.
Stouffville Line – down.
Lakeshore East Line – down.

And that’s without even mentioning the partial Dundas Street West road-closure for the Do West Festival.

With all due respect – what in the name of this city’s sanity is Olivia Chow thinking?
