Trump thinks that it's a hostile act against the US if other countries trade with the US, and also if other countries trade with each other without the US.

"Since 2018, when Premier Doug Ford was elected, the costs [for emergency forest firefighting} have only once been less than budgeted." #OnPoli
“We’d never underfund our firefighters. Never, ever, ever,” Mr. Ford said earlier this month as 150 fire crews battled 180 wildfires in Ontario, forcing many communities to evacuate.

The problem is, coming up with the money after fires are burning is playing catchup, addressing a problem when it has literally become a raging inferno, by which point there is often a scramble for personnel and resources.

There will always be wildfires. The question is, is it better to invest in preparing for them to minimize the damage they cause or scramble to fight them when they are already raging? The answer is obvious.

A critical element of maximizing everyone’s health is to keep & strengthen our publicly-funded health care system, ensuring zero private healthcare. Cheaper for everyone, short and long-term. Best for Canada. There is no case to be made that private is good if public is properly funded. #canpoli

Exactly. People think of long Covid as a binary state - you either have it or you don't. But another way LC exists is by turning up the volume dial to various extents on pre-existing conditions
Quote from Dietrich Klinghardt poster by Better Health Guy account on Facebook

"Covid has worked as an accelerator for pretty much every medical condition. Any weakness you had before 2020 will now be 10 times more in 2026"

This iconic Fabian Todorovic cartoon is still one of the best I’ve seen at illustrating the remarkable amount of space we surrender to cars, leaving little space left for everyone and everything else. The text added later makes the bonus point that many drivers still manage to complain about it.
Iconic cartoon showing a single driver in a wide car taking up most of the street space. With many people crammed into the bus, bike and pedestrian space left over. Someone later added a voice box with the driver saying “Damn those bike paths and bus lanes taking all the space!”

One of the most successful pedestrian streets in the world, the Strøget in Copenhagen, was filled with cars until a 2 year pedestrianization pilot project in 1962. The opposition argued “no cars means no business,” but the street has been a massive retail success, the city’s busiest shopping street.
A portion of the Strøget street in central Copenhagen, Denmark, that widens out into a central “square” that often gets used for events or markets.

If someone chooses to live in a smaller home in the inner city in part to avoid a long commute, they generally don’t pressure society to build them a bigger house with more stuff. So if you choose a bigger stuff-filled house in the suburbs, don’t expect society to build you a fast car commute.
