#120mm #believeinfilm
120mm black and white photograph. Shadow of a streetlight cast onto a brick wall, to the right of it a window.
Both the shadow and the window are odd, detached from reality. Hypnagogic distortions, warped by a lack of sleep.

I love when advice for artists comes from people who clearly do not pay their own bills. "Feeling frustrated? Walk away from your desk. For at least a year. Go to Mallorca and make invisible paintings from the sea water you swim in at least 8 hours a day. You *have* to follow your passion."

I think safety is an important word in the context of small talk and neurodivergence. Masking in order to perform small talk, the anxiety of being found out as someone who can’t, or the disabling rsd and shame when you overshare* - all make you feel unsafe as a neurodivergent person.

35mm black and white photograph. Blinding sunlight from a window at the top of a staircase is plastered on the wall.
Apart from this shock of light, the frame is mostly in shadow - vague outlines of the window, the wall and the bannister are visible.

So much spin in my inbox on the ‘new and improved ABA’ - which is the same as the old ABA. Listen to your autistic kids and adults, folks. Not to proponents of a PTSD inducing, dehumanising practice that was developed by the guy who created conversion therapy.

Yep. The dichotomy is dismissive of nuance and diversity within neurodivergence. It perpetuates the idea of a deficit - a problem to be solved. Makes it easier to dismiss ND folks’ abilities and their self advocacy on one hand, and ignore actual struggles and support requirements on the other.

Inquilab zindabad! Did not think I’d see any kind of BJP loss in my lifetime, let alone such a thorough (and joyful) decimation. It’s just one resignation - nowhere near enough. But we know how fucking monumental this is. I hope this is the beginning of something and not the end.

This. An election now, wouldn’t go any differently. The voting majority is more concerned with drowning themselves in Hindu-Muslim than asking for accountability. But a lot of ‘apolitical’ folks were radicalized today. If thats directed towards elections, eventually it could count for something.

I've had to unfriend a few fans lately, all for the same reason. They made ridiculing, unkind, and in some cases outright cruel comments about pictures I posted of young women cosplaying Jessica.
More than a person, Jessica is a state of mind. To play Jessica, you need self -confidence, a sense of humor, and a Jessican -attitude-. There is no such thing as a Jessica cosplayer being too short, too flat chested, too heavy, too thin, too unattractive, too black, too Asian, or even too male!!! All Jessica, any Jessica, every Jessica is good Jessica.
I'm not giving any warnings or second chances. A single disparaging comment on a Jessica cosplayer, and I'm throwing you out of the rainbow colored Toontown Tent.

Alt. Perfect for the thwop of existential dread/despair I woke up with.
surpassed. We now understand, more clearly than in the 1950s, that the consequences of human action on a global scale are rather like Godzilla: huge, unknowable, motiveless and not easily stopped.
Godzilla is thus an apocalyptic figure, in the strictest sense of the word: a thing of unmasking, of revelation. The revelation is this: We have woken monsters, and they are coming ashore. Perhaps if we're lucky, their impacts can be mitigated, managed, adapted to. But they have arrived. You will listen to the destruction on the radio, watch it on the television or Internet, until it's your turn.
By the time you see Godzilla, in other words, the bomb has already dropped.
By the time you see Godzilla, highways and pipelines sprawl out and the oil has flowed for decades. You still feel fine, normal, alive: not like a walking ghost at all. And then you see that rough beast ashore, and the weight of decades of missed chances crashes into you, and the sun burns down. You are still walking around. But it's too late.

Months before one of Hubble’s primary cameras, the Wide Field Camera 3, was installed, Hubble took this image of Arp 147. Their arrangement resembles the number 10: The galaxy on the left appears as a “one,” while the one on the right looks like a “zero.”: bit.ly/4fbunAJ
Two interacting ring galaxies. At about 8 o’clock from the center is one of the ring galaxies. This galaxy’s smooth, white ring of stars and galaxies contains a fuzzy, white core. This ring is oriented almost edge-on. The other ring galaxy is at 2 o’clock from the center. This galaxy is seen face-on and is a lot more speckled with blue pockets of star formation, thinner at about 2 o’clock to 6 o’clock and thicker at 6 o’clock to 2 o’clock. At about 7 o’clock is a pocket of red stars and gas. There are a few red and yellow galaxies strewn throughout the black background of space.

Venus - Akatsuki - From Aster Cowart (terrasabaea.bsky.social) - flic.kr/p/DUVaWr
Venus as seen by Japan's Akatsuki space probe on April 26, 2016. At the time this photo was taken, Akatsuki was located approximately 90,000 km above the Venusian cloud tops.

This image was assembled using near-UV and near-IR photos to create a pseudo-true color view. My procedure for creating this image exaggerates the coloration and detail visible in the clouds, which show very little detail in the visible portion of the spectrum.

This photo has been further enhanced by showing the cloud patterns on the night side using an infrared image at 2.26 μm. This portion of the image uses a relative colormap to highlight some of the variation present.

At 2.26μm, Venus' clouds are partially transparent, allowing heat from the lower portions of the atmosphere to radiate into space. Dark regions in this part of the image are, in effect, shadows of clouds in the upper atmosphere near the same level as the visible clouds.
