Bourgeois swells in top hats, fur-trimmed coats and dinner suits - I'm guessing the 19th century equivalent of members of the Bullingdon Club - emerge, looking the worse for wear, from an open doorway. Hanging from their arms are ladies festooned in richly decorated frills and furbelows. There is rubbish and a discarded bouquet of flowers in the gutter. A bunch of plainly-clad proles on their way to work have stopped to make way for the toffs. Or maybe they're just looking at them in disgust.

Grape shrub turned out good! Tart but sweet. Only thing, not really a problem: there's a lot of it. Also started a plum shrub with some pineapple vinegar (and then apple cider vinegar, and topped off with white vinegar when I ran out of the others).

Over 2 quarts of a greenish-brown liquid, the grape shrub.

The grape shrub, now in one large jar as well as a milk bottle.

A few days ago, one of the juvenile Great Horned Owls was sitting in the rain, outside of my house, staring in the window. The structure of its face makes it appear unhappy about sitting out in the cold rain. #birds 🪶
