tl,dr; Scientists no longer allowed to use federal funding to publish, attend meetings, or talk to the public. They cannot collaborate internationally. Grants can be cancelled for any reason, at any time, political appointees have a final say over what gets funded, and who gets funded.

This is a dark era — one where outright con artists and scammers have made themselves billionaires by promising the world, exploiting a culture of executive ignorance disconnected from real production to sell a product based on flimflam because LLMs are capable of making a half-assed demo of some things, and a lot of CEOs are fucking morons.

In the end, the truth will win out. The only way to fix these problems is to call things out as they happen and then demand accountability for years after. Once this ends, I have names and links going back three years nailing the people that let this happen with their half-truths and fantastical projections based on what they’d like to happen.

Put another way, I have taken very detailed notes.
