I am bloody proud to be an #RNLI supporter and member! These brilliant men and women have quite enough to cope with without being harassed by the scum of the earth. Their only concern is to help people in danger at sea - not check passports first! Which is how it should be. Please RT if you agree🙏

The amazing Emma Monk 👏 Are we happy that citizen journalists like her (or me during Tories), acting with no resources, working in our own time, untrained and unpaid, can so easily expose so much that the BBC, Telegraph and Times *somehow* manage to miss? It's almost like they're not trying.

Giving in to Trump in the end having resisted at first is the worst of all possible plays. He’ll never forget you defied him, but now he knows you’re weak if pressed a bit. You get neither the brief favour of eagerly kowtowing, or the respect of him and your allies & peers for standing up to him.

I get that UC is an effective anti-poverty measure. But I'm less clear on why a tax cut, where a govt takes less money from a pay packet, is effectively the same, in terms of corporate subsidy, as a business not paying enough in the first place.

Here’s a short poem about the power of poetry to change the world.
The Power of Poetry

with things falling apart
and anarchy let loose,

it was only poetry, he found,
which had any use,

so he reached for his copy
of The Complete Works of Yeats

and bludgeoned the President

This is a huge problem: humans are not wired to cope with this daily torrent of disgust & dismay. It's exhausting & unbalancing. It's tempting just to switch off the news. But that surrenders the political arena - & the lives of all those it affects - to the hooligans & vandals who are trashing it.
