Tonight in 1984, the grimly realistic and harrowing nuclear war drama “Threads” was first broadcast on BBC Two. The film aired for the first time in the United States on January 13, 1985, on WTBS, thanks to station owner and disarmament advocate Ted Turner. “Threads” streams for free on @kanopy.com
