I love everything about the Queen Naoko Takeuchi but one of my favorites is that she’s done some autobio comics that nobody likes because she has a life and problems that literally no one else can relate to.

Naoko Takeuchi's self-portraits were so cute before she switched to just drawing herself as a bunny

So BOOM is collecting all of the JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS run (including my contributions) in a nice four volume set. And it reminded me that I've been meaning to draw Jem again for a minute.

An illustration of Jem from JEM AND THE HOLOGRAM. She's arching back, belting into her microphone. Big smile on her face, and her trademark earrings sparkling.

Bring back the '80s, by which I mean in the incredibly specific way a' guys not afraid ta' be glam. (Art sampled from "Adventure Comics" Vol. 1 #435 by Steve Skeates, Mike Grell, John Albano, Joe Orlando, and Paul Levitz. Edits: Dialogue, musical notes.)

In a comic book panel Aquaman looks gorgeous with perfect wavy blond '70s hair, pouting lips, and what appears to be light blue eye shadow. He is singing the theme song to Jem and the Holograms. Off-panel, Mera interrupts him with, "Honey? You okay?" Aquaman responds, "I'm fine Mera! I'm just applying the perfect eye shadow. Because no one in the ocean slays like the King of Atlantis! Should I do a Ziggy Stardust bolt or... no, no, that would be too much. This is enough." A caption reads "A Kilowog-core Edit".

Cracking up at this Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs kimono 😂

Close-up of a page from the December 1992 issue of Disneyland showing a young girl wearing a kimono with a print showing the Seven Dwarfs playing various instruments among a field of white and pink flowers

By the way — I wonder if this episode went uncensored for the Italian and French dubs? (I sure hope so!)

Was looking at old Game Informers on @gamehistoryorg.bsky.social and I found this. Is this the same Rebecca Sugar that would go on to make Steven Universe? Did they win a GI envelope art contest with Invader Zim art in 2002?

I love that in 1993 the world was so woke that Naoko Takeuchi and her Sailor Moon team gathered around the table, drew this handsome, masculine character on the left, and said YES. This is the perfect afab lesbian material bcos... Well, people like that do exist. What did you think I was gonnae say

Haruka Tenoh(highlighted) on the Sailor Moon character height sheet.

Amami Yūki(left), a Takarazuka male role actress. Date unknown(to me).

Franctically searching through my gallery, trying to explain to my friend that saw the previously searched "sailor moon author foreskin manga" pop up on my google search toolbar that THIS is what I was looking for

four panel manga where Naoko Takeuchi remembers the time when her then boyfriend (probably her actual husband) showed her his foreskin while they were in the bathtub together. She's represented as a cute cartoon rabbit while her partner is a cartoon dog with glasses
