I read Tim Curry's memoir, VAGABOND. A light little touch; he's very expansive about his career and the way he approaches his acting, but shares relatively few personal stories. Still a very fun read. the 'about the author' page at the very end just reads "Weren't you paying attention?" 😆

I still own copies of... let's see, Ghost in the Shell, and Tobal no 2. The former because I got it autographed by Hiroyuki Kitakubo, and the latter because I got it autographed by Akira Kamiya. I wonder if they still boot up...

DO NOT SEEK THE TREASURE One of my favorite scenes from O Brother Where Art Thou. I figured I should try to draw all 3 of the Soggy bottom boys, why not. #art #comic

🍳 A messy comic of a scene from O Brother Where Art Thou. Delmar and Everett are in a movie theater looking behind them in their seats. Delmar is saying " We thought you was a Toad" to a confused looking Pete (surrounded by question marks).

why cant sony stuff have, like, regular spidey? is that actually how it works?? because my god, that is dumb. it would explain why we didn't get a "venom 3: amazing spider-man 3" movie after the success of The Three Spider-Mans...

romance-wise, I'd put SAYONARA LARA in the same pot as SOUND! EUPHONIUM. i root for Kumiko & Reina for the same reason as Lara & Mari-- the boy partners are boring and feel like default options. goddamn predictable Liz-from-FOR-BETTER-OR-WORSE-ass pairings...

panel from the Shortpacked comic BURNSAUCE, which parodies the end of FOR BETTER OR WORSE, where, after Liz spends like 4 years being in the big city and pursuing new opportunities and an exciting new relationship, she suddenly defaults to the boy back home. goddamit lynn johnston, you did NOT stick that aspect of the landing!!

panel depicts
mom (elly): Anthony CAN'T be dead, Elizabeth. WHO will you marry?
Liz: S-someone else? or I dunno, maybe I could be single...?

elly is a grotesque parody of the way Lynn Johnston draws excited characters, with round eyes and a triangle-shaped mouth.

i would like to request a LARA GAIDEN anime that's just a 4-part OVA about her visiting various regions in Japan and mastering various aspects of cake-making... because I too am willing to die for cake!!

Lara from SAYONARA LARA is willing to die for cake!!

14411

also yes, I know its official english title is GOODBYE LARA. Well too bad, SAYONARA LARA is more mellifluous!! plus we say "sayonara" in english, too~

3181

SAYONARA LARA: so much good-ass anime this season that I set this aside and binged it over Sunday and yesterday. whatta show! A really fun modern spin on the tale, and IMO can be taken as a solid follow-on to Katsumata's magnificent LITTLE MERMAID (1975). they coulda been bolder with Lara/Mari.. 😅

A coworker used the word r______d in casual conversation in our office. After exiting the office but still where others could hear me, I told him that although I know the word has made a huge comeback, it's still a slur and an HR violation and I had better not hear it again. Haven't heard it since.
