If care about free markets, you not only get more from center-left Dems than the party of Trump, you get more *from professed democratic socialists* like Mamdani than you do from the party of Trump. Those who deny this only think of it as an anti-left cultural totem and not a real policy agenda.

Transit in Mexico is so unsufferable; even a rich city like Monterrey has outsourced it to employers. Crazy to think most suburbs rely so much on staff transportation. Not the highest rate nationwide, tho. That place is for neighboring Saltillo (33%) 🤯.

Hello Bone Colleagues,
I have invented a new type of ankle and I'm very excited to show it to you. Early raccoon trials suggest a 60% increase in scurrying speed and dramatic increases in fine motor banditry. I know we are not supposed to create super raccoons, but I think you'll change your mind and professional ethics when you see how cute they are. I believe we are on the cusp of a new era in advanced human scurrying because if medical science has taught me anything, it's that improvements in raccoons correspond 1:1 to improvements in humans.

Important reminder to vote yes on the ballot question that would allow the mayor's office and DOT to speed up the installation of safe street designs, bike lanes, and transit upgrades. These are the people who want to retain their veto and keep us mired in a dysfunctional status quo.

C-Town got rid of its dried chiles 🌶️ whole I was in Mexico. Maybe I am done with this store. That was the main thing it had going for it. This building should be 20 floors of apartments instead of a grocery store without dried chiles.

⭕❌❌⭕ How can one Mexican convenience store chain outnumber every U.S. chain... even in a country with a fraction of the U.S. population?↓ Dollar General is the closest U.S. comparison, yet it still has about 4,000 fewer stores than Oxxo has in Mexico....
Oxxo leads with 24,297 stores, surpassing U.S. chains like Dollar General and Subway in a comparison chart of store counts.

My favorite thing about the metro in Mexico City is how the map telling you the list of stops will reflect which way you’re facing. So if you are headed “right” it shows that order but if you turn around it reflects that.

The GOP cut funding to the IRS because *audits work* and they fundamentally don't believe rich people should have to play by the rules.
Line chart titled "Revenue per audit," subtitled "In-person audits, 2010-2014." It plots average revenue and average cost per audit by taxpayer income percentile, poorer to richer, from the 0–5th percentile to the top 0.1%. Source: Boning et al. 2023, "A Welfare Analysis of Tax Audits Across the Income Distribution."

Across the bottom half of the income distribution, revenue and cost track closely, both around $3,000–$6,000 per audit. Above the median, revenue pulls ahead of cost: about $10,000 vs. $5,000 near the 90th percentile, and about $17,000 vs. $8,000 at the 95th–99th. At the top, revenue jumps to about $31,000 for the 99–99.9th percentile and about $90,000 for the top 0.1%.

I actually don’t want random institutions to pay ex-FBI officers to do this every time there’s a semi-high-profile speaker? Americans – notably including Charlie Kirk – decided that we should all be a trigger-pull away from death every time we step into public, and so we are. So what’s the issue?
The school also ceded key decisions to Kirk's organization, Turning Point USA, and didn't properly assess the likelihood of a rooftop shooter, according to an independent security review released Friday. The university commissioned the review of security procedures at its campus in Orem, Utah, which hosted Kirk the day he was assassinated.
