Yep, had a similar experience in basically every room I've taught in since mid- September 😭 (I suspect perimenopause is in part to blame here but also just bad building management. )

My family moved from London to Norfolk in the 90s (thanks government decentralisation!). It was very noticeably white, so I suspect there's a lot of insularity/fear of the unknown in there?

Side note: I want a romance book box that's just paperbacks rather than fancy special edition hardbacks. There used to be a really good one but they shut down and now everywhere is SUPER expensive.

Oh noooo! Hardback is one of the few formats I don't especially like for leisure reading. Too heavy! I usually have at least one print and one ebook (usually more) on the go at any one time.

Yep, there's also evidence to show we take more in when reading in print vs ebooks. Plus there's research (about students) that show they use different formats depending on what they're doing (e.g. commuter students might prefer ebook for their bus ride vs print for sitting in the library).
