Distraction is the second leading cause of fatal crashes in our region and province. We hope that all candidates take that seriously, especially those from a party campaigning on public safety. (Video from ABC School Board Candidate Lina Vargas on Instagram)

@vancolour.bsky.social do you feel like taking a break from the Vancouver election and jump into #NewWest election coverage? We've had a mayoral candidate ghost at least 5 community groups. We could use some help finding him and getting some answers.

On Friday it took David Eby just 2 hours and 13 minutes to cave-in on TransLink's long awaited new revenue tool. This also marks the 25th anniversary of Mike Farnworth and the NDP axing a vehicle levy in 2001, and losing that year's election 77-2.

One big worry I have about a BC Cons win is that they will eff up transit, but Eby's plan to eff up transit addresses that.

This is probably the straw that broke the camel's back for me. After a long list of broken 2024 election promises for transit, and now publicly announcing an intention to let TransLink fiscal cliff (at this point the onus is on the NDP to prove otherwise), I can't bring myself to vote NDP again.

I would argue that its the users of transit that are being deprioritized with this decision, not just the advocates. The former being ~1,000,000 people, and the latter being a much smaller number! I think the title of the article misrepresents the groups at play (car "owners" vs transit "advocates")

What a pathetic showing by the BC NDP, caving to the vehicle levy news faster than you can say LNG. This election is a race to the bottom and we still have 22 days to go.

In response to David Eby lowering the province-wide gas tax by 10¢, TransLink should, in response, raise their separate fuel levy by 10¢ to make up the difference 😌 Purely by coincidence, the TL board is meeting right now.

Kind of amazing how underappreciated “make the buses go faster” would save service hours, free up bus availability, and actually sell more fares, all of which are positives on a transit agency’s balance sheet
