I’ve knocked on thousands of doors this election, MetroVan has not come up once at those doors. People care about housing, public services, safety, roads & parks here in #Newwest, not the Fontaine-Global war on regional governance. It’s good for TV news clips, but people ain’t voting on it.

There are >10,000 people living in deeply affordable housing in this region run by Metro Vancouver *and it costs tax payers not a single penny*. It’s 100% self-sustaining. We need Metro to operate MORE affordable housing, not get out of the game.

From this I get that Fontaine wants to get rid of the 24 Metro Vancouver parks and ditch housing for over 10,000 people, because parks and housing aren’t “core services”. Fantastic. #NewWest

We really need to challenge people's claims that new development will hurt property values. If you bought your home 50 years ago, you're doing just fine. That it might not continue to appreciate *quite as fast as it did before* is not city government's concern.

Okay so @defector.com has had an odd glitch since the site redesign a couple of weeks back where the wrong photo and headline are often put together on the main page and I was going to ask them about fixing it but this just happened and as far as I'm concerned they have to leave it as is.
Screenshot for a Defector podcast episode with the headline "Consider the Emotional Lives of Scallops" only the accompanying photo is a white gormless stubbled red-headed UK singer of recent notoriety giving a flat smile to the camera while wearing a washed out peach top as beige as he is against a flat background. So, actually, probably a scallop anyway.
