Logan Henderson has now tied Zac Gallen for the longest streak of starts allowing 3 or fewer runs to begin a career in Major League Baseball since 1893 (23). 13 of those starts have been 0 or 1 run.

Pete Crow-Armstrong has faced 28 teams and 286 pitchers in 22 stadiums so far this season, which isn't over yet Joe DiMaggio faced 7 teams and 321 pitchers in 9 stadiums in his entire (regular season) career, which spanned 13 seasons between 1936-1951. It's a different sport now.

Yet another issue where every single person who touched it needs to end up in jail for us to have any semblance of the rule of law. You cannot have a functional democracy where the government creates a plan to literally throw away votes from places that don't support the incumbent party.

Dodger fans crashing out and talking about missing the playoffs (lol) is a great reminder that baseball will baseball for everyone and that you can’t build a perfectly unbeatable team even if you’re smarter and richer than everyone. That’s what makes it the best sport, and the most frustrating.

Those of you eager to serve wealthy MLB owners as volunteer Pinkertons won’t like to read this, but as usual Joe Sheehan nails the real problem:

Joe Sheehan: This trade is a microcosm of the real problem MLB has faced for decades. It’s not about haves and have-nots, but wants and want-nots. The Dodgers, and teams like them, want to win more than teams like the Tigers do, so they go out and acquire the Tigers’ best pitcher. MLB has built an entire labor strategy and media campaign around demonizing the Dodgers, when in fact it’s the Tigers who are wrecking baseball. You have to be through the looking glass to think the sport’s problem is the team that’s trying to win rather than the team that’s trading Tarik Skubal while sitting 2 1/2 games out of a playoff spot.

If the season ended today the division winners would rank #2, 6, 8, 26, 28 and 30th in payroll. The wildcard winners would rank #3, 10, 17, 19, 24 and 27th. The #1, 4, 5, 7, 9 payrolls are all under .500. Please tell me more about how payroll is destiny in MLB.
