Interesting to see the break down in the increase for battery demand. EV’s would be predicted (every second car where I live is not a Model 3). I would suggest that the 2-3 wheeler increase is the most shocking when you think about how small those batteries are.

We don't know much about the Ionna #EV charging network, but it's worth revisiting why 7 carmakers felt they had to launch it. - Hint 1: Fury with [which other network, can you guess?] - Hint 2: They don't want Tesla owning their buyers' charging. My piece for @caranddriver.bsky.social.

7 Automakers Join Forces to Create the Ionna EV Charging Network
BMW, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes, and Stellantis work together on a network, with 30,000 charging stations, some rather cushy, expected in the U.S. by 2030.

Norway recently implemented a weight tax on all vehicles (including electric!!) NOK 12.5 per kilogram over 500 kilograms. EV lobby groups and big car companies that have been aggressively bloating EV models for years are *very* pissed off about it.

BMW and VW are the worst offenders, here - Hyundai and Nissan are just getting started. They're selling cars that are just way too big for what they're used for, and with oversized batteries with too much range. (Tesla stopped making new car models half a decade ago) robbieandrew.github.io/EV/

In China 22% of all purchases were EV in 2023. In Canada it was 10%. It’s not policy, they have social agreement in the value of using one. They also produce tons of fabulous models. Environment doesn’t care about the model, but the mode. Chinese EV brands will come to North America soon enough.

TED Talkracy Dies In Darkness
Tweet from @TEDchris:<long post, alert> Incredibly important conversation going on right here. I know so many admirers of @elonmusk - including me, I'll admit it - who are perplexed and dismayed by his recent relentless drift toward people whose opinions he himself would have regarded as extreme a year ago. @chazman has been a tireless champion for Tesla and its FSD roll-out. When you start losing people like hire, it surely... surely.. should be some kind of reality check. Elon argues that Chuck is ignoring the existential risk to American civilization. But I think the biggest risk to that civilization comes from unbridgeable political division, and Elon's latest provocations here are actually making the problem worse. There was a time, early in the Twitter/X takeover when Elon was arguing convincingly that the loudest voices where at the extremes, and he, along with 80%, of America and the world did not share those opinions.
