I realized some of you might not be aware it is possible to preorder a plush King County Metro style bus Don't worry I am here to help merch.fixthel8.com/us/all-products/plush-bus
Photo from the website that has a cute plush "eight" bus with eyes and everything, KC Metro stile with green and yellow, lovingly placed on a sidewalk curb in front of an actual 8 bus. It is the most adorable thing you've ever seen and you definitely need to buy one

Today my spouse drove me into work and I took the bus home. I would like to offer an insufficient and belated thank you to everyone who has ever pushed for ADA as a minimum standard in (most) public spaces and wonder why the F we don't do a better job with accessibility everywhere. Transit rocks.

Today was the third day in a row I came within a yard of a car hitting me while I was walking in a crosswalk, and today was way too close. I realize we have some drivers out there, but I think we need to ban cars until we can figure out what's going on.

School busing in Seattle also seems to be a big mess this year, and many families are turning to carpools to save their kids from an hour on a bus meandering in circles The school bus should be a top road priority, a community center on wheels, not a second-class afterthought to the car line

New telescope first light day is a lot like new bike day but if the bike was military surplus from decades ago and a group of your nerdiest friends got to spend their careers sorting out which components to upgrade so it would work on its own in space for years Also, Fourier transforms are magic 🔭

$15K+ on average each year for each car in the United States. And Gas specifically is 55% higher than six years ago. That’s a shocking cost, especially when u consider how much of the U.S. has been planned and designed to be functionally car dependent, and that often means multiple cars are needed.
cnbc.com
Car ownership costs an average of $5,851 a year on top of auto loan payments, analysis finds
The cost of insurance, gas, and maintenance or repairs can add thousands of dollars a year to the price of owning a car.

Every heartwarming human interest story in america is like "he raised $20,000 to keep 200 orphans from being crushed in the orphan-crushing machine" and then never asks why an orphan-crushing machine exists or why you'd need to pay to prevent it from being used.

I'm so glad I planned this amazing trip because it turns out I won't be able to ride a bike (or drive a car, womp womp) for probably months. I learned two new terms today for fractures in the ankle/foot area. (I injured myself walking down stairs! Not riding a bike! For the record)

Nothing like a road trip with a twisted ankle to remind you accessibility is not something we have solved. My husband and kids enjoyed a 0.3 mi stroll to a beachside playground and I'm sitting with my leg up in the hotel. Have crutches now, at least. Looking forward to home and a dang X-Ray.

Easy to agree to if you think it's somebody else going 60 in a 30 for no reason. Not if it's you going 35 in a 25 and you're late for work. Incidentally, Lime has geofenced speed limiters and no parking zones for bikes and scooters. Only political will prohibits the same for newer cars in cities.
