World maps was interesting, 1st I was only supposed to make the one for Faith Renewed; what I did was use Blender to make a rudimentary brushes where with the correct perspective I would put on a blank intermission screen & paint over extra details & making it fit with the rest. Palette limitation -

And with that extra time, alongside Faith Renewed I was able to make unique skies for the original episode 4 and 5, which I really like as I added evil cloud tentacles in the sky to make it look more evil, and E5 with the very foggy and murky swamp filled with dead trees with hanged moss

And now the Troll repaint, which was the most complex thing I had to do as I had to touch up 69 images while keeping it consistent. 1st I edited each sprites separately, but was too time consuming so I put every sprite in a single sheet to work at everything at once, which was much more efficient.

All 69 frames of the Troll for Heretic+Hexen

Lighting adjustments for more natural hues to start with

Paintover to remove loose pixels and add extra details, like instead of what looks like a skintight suit it looks like muscle fibers with veins and loose growth on the hands and neck/head, as well as bone spikes for the spine and adding contrast on the shoulder pads, belt, skull, hands, and boots.

Trying to take the Stone Imps from Doom Eternal and put them into Hideous Destructor. They are less fireball-happy imps, but with armor that defends against attack. They have a chance to bathe themselves in fire and leap at you over a long distance, resulting in great wounds, if not death, on impact

here's me actually beating the thing. took me 15minutes. landstalker really is a beautiful game where you can envision the devs going "i think this would be funny" & "no" was never taken for an answer as to whether or not something was ever Too Much. it's inspiring. i wish more games were like this

i remember reading someone saying that landstalker feels like a game where its challenges often feel so absurd and romhack-like in the sense that they push the limit to what the engine can even do. and upon replaying this game, especially being into later parts of the game, i can't unsee it now
