My very real diagnosis that affects my entire life and how I experience and move about in this world is not just some "politically correct" or "trendy" term, Werner. Try again. www.theguardian.com/film/2026/se...
From The Guardian: a photo of actor and director Werner Herzog with actresses and real-life sisters Kate & Rooney Mara on either side of him at what appears to be a publicity event--probably the Venice Film Festival--with the caption & headline: "Movies
Interview
'I don't like the term neurodivergence - it sounds like political correctness': Werner
Herzog on fans, fanaticism and baby foxes.
Philip Oltermann in Venice"A screenshot of an excerpt from a Guardian article: "But suggestions that they could be role models for the modern-day neurodiversity movement send this famously fearless filmmaker running for the
hills. "I don't like the term neurodivergence and ADHD, or whatever - it sounds like political correctness, which scares me under the table," Herzog said at the Venice film festival."

To the side, is a box with a link to a 2-out-of-5 star review for the movie being discussed in the article, with the headline: "Bucking Fastard review - Herzog's starry twins soap provokes a syncing feeling"A screenshot of an excerpt from a Guardian article discussing the behavior of the two main characters in Herzog's movie, "Bucking Fastards" that says: "Contemporary psychiatrists might detect behaviour consistent with autism or ADHD
hyper-focus. Not Herzog.
"I do not relate to all these trendy terms - I just can't hear it, it dusts out of my ears," said the Bavaria-born US-based director, speaking in the idiosyncratic, heavily accented English familiar to viewers of documentaries like My Favourite Fiend."

In other news, I've FINALLY had my very first London Fog (the beverage, not the jacket or the actual fog) because @jonmo001.bsky.social found a coffee shop that actually has decaf earl grey tea, and Oh. My. Goodness this is my new favorite thing. Yes, I know I'm super late to the party on this, but+

My ADHD coach told me today that she went to a monthly planning thingy at a women's only co-working space where the host said that most productivity books are written by men who work on a 24hr productivity cycle, whereas women* work on a 28 day** productivity cycle, & I can't stop thinking abt that.

it's really important to me to point out that in fact the medieval peasant did in fact run out of food, every year lots of them did starve, and less often but still often enough the peasantry in general ran out of food causing well known historic events
a screen shot of a YouTube video by the channel Medieval Way

the thumbnail is an AI picture of a middle aged man in vaguely peasant like clothes holding a big thing of brie cheese in front of a wall of food, with hanging cured meats and bags of grains and bags with apples and cabbage

the video is entitled "Why Medieval Peasants Never Ran Out Of Food While You Run Out In 3 Days"

I've been trying to think about the right's obsession with Lord of the Rings and I'm increasingly convinced that these guys just read themselves into the story, like "well I would simply use the One Ring for good" without actually absorbing that the point of the book is that's not possible.

I know this is probably just a scam bot "marketing services" email, but in case it's not, the answer, Liam, is a resounding NO. The audacity. 😂
A screenshot of an email with the subject line: "A few things I noticed about your online presence"
The body of the email says,
"Hi,
I noticed a few areas of your online presence that could have room for improvement.
I put together a brief summary highlighting what stood out and some possible ways to address
Would you like me to send it over?
Best, Liam"

Willie Nelson sayeth "fuck data centers"
A post from the official Willie Nelson social media pages: "I grew up in Abbott, and I still have a home there with farmed land where I can see stars at night. And now our community, like many others, needs to fight against data centers invading our land. The last thing we need is a loud, water thieving, light polluting, data center anywhere near our town (or any others for that matter). The strength of rural America has never come from big industrial footprints. It comes from generations of people, open spaces, local businesses, and a connection to the land. All of America deserves thoughtful stewardship that doesn't steal farmland (where our essential shared-food is grown) and small family farmers' livelihoods, and not data centers that only destroy the environment around them. Whoever controls food and water, controls the masses. Let's not allow our own demise of give up control over necessary resources in the U.S. and especially in Abbott." -Willie Nelson

The Germans really cooked making "Hobbyless behaviour" an insult. It is both devastating, applicable to a wide range of people and behaviours, and doesn't resort to swearing.

Man ranting on the internet about the Superbowl halftime show or complaining that something is "woke"? Hobbyless Behaviour. Girls mocking another girl for not looking right? Hobbyless Behaviour. Mindless vandalism? Hobbyless Behaviour.

It is more powerful than "get a life" or the English "You're Sad" because it gets to the central point of the matter, and that is wonderful. Danke, Deutsch.
