For patients with a low likelihood of survival, admission to ICU may risk a negative dying experience. A technologically mediated death marked by distress, uncertainty and grief is unlikely to be a good death, regardless of circumstances. #ICU #MedTwitter doi.org/10.1111/anae...

Anaesthetists aren’t optional. They're essential. Today, we launched our UK State of the Nation report for 2026, which sets out the challenges facing our members and the wider anaesthetic workforce – and the actions needed to address them. Read more: ow.ly/5NQt50Zielz #Medsky #Ansky

It's been just over 6m since I fractured my tibia & had to stop running but, after a period of "patient reflection", I've finally been given the green light to start again! First outdoor run (-walk-run) this morning was an absolute joy & reminds me why exactly I've missed this #runningmakesmehappy

Right - you all thought that quiz was too US-centric. So I've vibe-coded something far more British. Specifically British, because I am *not* making a Northern Irish Political Compass. From taxes to the monarchy, answer the questions and see where you sit. quiz.jmoxley.co.uk

1/ SAS doctors, a thread... This week, the papers are covering the fact that "senior doctors" are balloting for industrial action. This includes Consultants, and SAS doctors. While most folks know about the former, I suspect few readers could actually describe what a SAS doctor is.

Bad news - I've done a very comprehensive job of trashing my left tibia so can't run for an extended period. Already pretty depressed by the news & can feel my fitness dropping off rapidly after just a few weeks. #runsky - help me out: what can I do to maintain my aerobic base for the next 6 months?

I have a task for anyone reading this, to be completed tomorrow. Do something nice for a stranger. Do this not because you expect anyone to reciprocate, or to know, but because it might make the world a better place. Random acts of kindness might be the thing that saves humanity. You never know.

Just recorded a talk for a webinar this week. There was a time I gave a SAS careers talk every couple of weeks. I chalked up 30 one year, which now seems bonkers. Alternative career pathways still need parity of esteem folks, even if I say it slightly less often than I used to. #SASsix
