Rest in power Benjamin Alire Sáenz. Last year when I was in the hospital I ordered your Aristotle and Dante, which I'd always wanted to read--that was one of the few pleasures there, to get things in the mail, books--and it brought me great joy to melt away into your writing, your storytelling.

Our next creative review invites counterimaginaries to the official celebrations of this summer. How do we keep walking together toward "un mundo donde quepan muchos mundos"? Send us your response as #poetry, #art, #flashfic, #flashcnf or #music. To submit: marisol@deceleration.news by Aug 2.
Flyer with call for submissions to summer creative review published by deceleration.news. Over a shot of earth from space, text reads: "Many worlds, celebrate! Deceleration invites flash fic and nonfic, poems, songs, and images that offer counterimaginaries to official celebrations of the US 250th. In a world rent by the weight of colonial violence, how do we continue walking and working together toward another possible world--"un mundo donde quepan muchos mundos" (a world in which many worlds fit)? Selections will appear in Deceleration's Summer 2026 Creative Review. $25 honorarium per piece. Deadline: August 2, 2026. To submit: marisol@deceleration.news"

Myriam Gurba presents THE HARD STUFF, a six-day craft seminar and workshop where we will access different techniques that enhance, enrich, and complicate prose that addresses the defining word of our age: TRAUMA! Magic realism, ancestral influence, co-authorship with the more-than human, humor, epistolary perspectives, and multimedia authorship will be the themes that structure our first five meetings. The final meeting will be participant led. For more information, email
