Would anyone like to grab a Jeremy Creature to celebrate the Halloween season while I'm preparing packages for the post office? Each Creature is designed and hand-sewed by me and takes many hours to create. jeremycreature.bigcartel.com
Here's a lovely pic of some of my hand-sewn, fabric art Jeremy Creatures. The ground is green fur and the background is a beautiful galaxy print fabric. One creature is a gray rock with two different sizes black eyes and a little frown. There's a tall ghost with about 35 black eyes of different sizes and a wide mouth full of sharp teeth. There's another spirit with many eyes, twirly head wisps, and an open mouth with sharp teeth. There's also a ghost with a tiny face, with two different sized eyes and a little frown. There's a black ghost with a gray moon face, their body covered with hand-embroidered stars and planets of various sizes and colors. There's a frowny white ghost featuring embroidered red flowers. There's a super tiny frowny white ghost, and a super tiny black ghost with four eyes and embroidered stars.

Option B: a world in which queer people grow up and live their lives without bigotry being the norm. (My favorite, @natania.bsky.social's Love in Netherford, makes passing mention that there are bigots out there but literally everyone else thinks the bigots are complete freaks.)

Rereading Asimov's FOUNDATION AND EMPIRE (1952) about hegemonic powers which, convinced of their own infallibility & propped up entirely by manufactured nostalgia, anti-democracy themselves to death. Ah, yes, these must be the "good old days" when "sci fi wasn't political" one hears so much about.

Oooh good question. I’m a sucker for the siren song trope. Characters fighting something, but then being lulled into a false sense of security bc the thing luring them sounds soothing. I’d first depict their POV, being comforted til they relax, then cut to the body horror. #HorrorWritersChat

My arm defies me, lifting scalpel instead of stake. One slash & my other lifts the largest flask. The vampire, stone-steady, smiles as he bleeds. "If you could find me," he murmurs with ventriloquistic stillness, "so can others. Time to wear *your* face for a while. Now drink." #HorrorWritersChat

When someone must have what they do not want? That's *the good stuff*. That's the only time the physical body horror works for me (e.g., "Slither," which is AMAZING). Knowing someone has been overtaken by an invasive craving is terrible in the most enticing way. #HorrorWritersChat

Mental, every time. I love stories in which people wonder whether the thoughts they hear are their own--and discover they are not. I love invasive minds, psychic assault, spiritual wasting. I don't find physical suffering entertaining. At best it leaves me bored. #HorrorWritersChat

My hand-sewn creature bags are perfect for carrying creatures and objects such as a tiny witch homunculus, a monster finger puppet, a mushroom creature, etc. jeremycreature.bigcartel.com
Here's a lovely photo of Prisma. She's a black ghost with a gray moon face, twinkly black eyes, and a little frown. Her body is covered with stars of various colors and sizes. There's every color of the rainbow, as well as pink. The top of her head is a metal coin purse clasp. She's wearing a black fabric witch hat magnetically attached to the clasp. There's green fur in the background of the pic.

Surrounding her are various objects. There's a black clay mushroom creature I made with one eye and red spots. There's a tiny can of peanuts, a yellow monster finger puppet, a small Goosebumps book keychain. There's also my fabric art tiny witch homunculus and her rainbow staff. She's a greenish homunculus creature with twinkly red eyes.

It gets harder and harder to write things that are fun and funny (which I try to do, even/especially when writing horror). But today I wrote a scene essentially roleplaying a convo with one of my BFFs, whom I dearly miss seeing all the time, and all of a sudden the characters were having fun again.
