I once actually shared a table with Gabino Iglesias and that was a great conversation. Low foot traffic meant not-that-many sales for either of us, but I loved the chance to talk with him. Would also love the chance to learn from Silvia Moreno-Garcia, too. #HorrorWritersChat

I'd LOVE the chance to talk with Shirley Jackson, T. Kingfisher, and Silvia Moreno Garcia about horror in ordinary settings…but we might need a conduit to the afterworld to get one of these. #HorrorWritersChat

Hi #HorrorWritersChat I'm Samantha, a multi-genre writer whose short horror runs the gamut from "a little spooky" to "OMG, Are you all right?" My WIP is a Gothic romance: The Architect & The Heir. "There are many kinds of ghosts. Most families are haunted in one way or another."

Anyone watching Star Trek Strange New Worlds? Sweetman and I have been enjoying it…even though it's getting mixed reviews from our social set. More episodic than last season and uneven, but some really great moments. Love this quote from Dendru on "Human Best Friend."
Dendru: I'm sorry that my plan didn't work. Because I do know how it feels to always be looking for something to be angry about. If you look hard enough, you'll always find some reason to be mad. You just need to decide if you're going to ignore it or let it ruin your day or perhaps, try to figure out what it is you're really angry about.

The solarium room of delle Rosa was the heart of the house when the mistress of the house was still living: warm, bright, and inviting. Somehow it's shadowed even on a sunlit afternoon now: damp, cold, and musty. Setting is part of the fun in a Gothic! #HorrorWritersChat

"Hey, Mom? Why's my book in the window seat?" Receiving no answer, I crawl up. The book is pressed against the glass and resists when I try to pull it away. I almost fall when I wrest it free. There's something about the cover. Has Jack's expression changed? #HorrorWritersChat

When the first book in the Menopausal Superheroes series (Going Through the Change) made her way into the world back in 2015, I hired an artist (Charles Dowd) to draw my heroes for me. I'm still using that art for promotional things a decade later. Today, I ordered them as stickers!

I don't know what others would consider my scariest words, but I chilled myself with "What I Know Now," the bloodiest thing I've yet written. The idea of needing to take down someone you love? And the ambivalence of whether that's true or only in my narrator's mind? (shudder) #HorrorWritersChat
Quote from "What I know now" in It Ends With Her: "As it was, by the time I admitted there was a problem--that you really were becoming something else entirely, and not just sick or suffering from delusions--there remained little enough to try.
I could kill you, or I could let you kill me."
