Wistfully wishing that Mamdani was your mayor isn't enough. You need to start loudly demanding these things of your local politicians. Turn up to whatever public meetings they have and demand these things in front of others so the demanda can spread. Democratic socialism IS AN OPTION.

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

Here's how we get Medicare for All done: Make Medicare whole (no one can keep all the parts straight!) Include vision, dental, and hearing. Begin extending to more people, starting with children. We arrive at Medicare for All, which means great Medicare for everyone.

Let's take a minute to 'think about them beans'. Toe beans, that is. Why do some animals have little pink nubs on their feet, while others... don't? Let's start by looking at the-things-between-the-beans minus the fur. Time to look at a Sphynx cat's foot, up close. CW: cannot be UNSEEN.😬

Schools are not a business and a student is not a customer and this is the framing that encapsulates everything wrong with higher education. The “solution” of running universities like businesses rather than a public good was always the problem.

Mamdani isn’t afraid to be seen focusing on small, unglamorous improvements: potholes, drinking fountains, etc. This is, btw, a fundamentally feminine approach to labor. Tending to the everyday, the chores, the small stuff. Governing as nurturing as opposed to posturing.
