Their messaging is so fucking incoherent. Maduro was an illegitimate leader who lost in 2024, which is why we're replacing him with his VP instead of the person who won in 2024. We did this to stop fentanyl, which is why he's indicted for cocaine. We're also occupying Venezuela via Zoom call.

Scholars have long paid attention to disproportionality between parties’ votes and seats emerging from the electoral system. In @sespjournal.bsky.social, Gianni Del Panta, @mattiaguidi.bsky.social, and I show that disproportionality can also be a by-product of pre-electoral coalition formation.🧵

1. Do we trust the UK (this government, but also the next) to come to the defence of Europe should the situation require it? If we do, there is no need to involve them in EU plans, since we already have NATO that commits the UK to protect Europe.

once you become a zillionaire or whatever your only and overriding fear becomes somehow losing your money, which explains a lot about why these super-rich techy SF types fall hook-line-and-sinker for right-wing hyperinflation fearmongering
Two tweets from Ycombinator founder Garry Tan. In the first, he quote tweets a graph of the national debt and says "cash is not trash but will eventually be trash". In the second he says "the message for investors is still simple, buy things of long term value that will durably survive any hyperinflation because they are important to society. The message for founders is to build those things"

Is it my impression or one of the problems of switching from platforms like Twitter, Instagram, etc. to platforms like Bluesky or Mastodon, for most people at least, will be that most of us have *unlearned* how to curate our content feeds? For many it's like learning the (old) Internet again.
