In #MathsToday, following a not-so-great performance on the vectors question in last week's CP1 assessment, Year 13 FM did some Vectors practice questions. These focused on key vectors skills. Tackling tricky vector modelling questions is a job for later in the week. interwovenmaths.com/vectors

Yes, incredibly frustrating to watch that episode. I think we’ll all be gutted if she goes early. 🤞🏻

In #MathsToday, Year 13 Further Maths had a lesson in the morning to revise for an afternoon Core Pure 1 assessment. I printed off a nice double-sided A3 revision mat. There's something about that format that I find feels more approachable than 50 questions in a list! interwovenmaths.com/mats/cp1

Not that I know of, sorry! I would ask Craig, who is in the charge of all podcast stuff, but he's in India at the moment. And I'm guessing he'd say I could use AI to create a transcript, but I'd probably need a paid AI thingy. I will ask Craig when he gets back.

Taught my favourite lesson of the year to my Y11 Further Maths class today. This set of questions from @1stclassmaths.bsky.social is brilliant. www.1stclassmaths.com/_files/ugd/9... Even the strongest mathematicians in the class find loads of challenge in a topic that they thought was easy.

I've just added the Algebraic Identities / Comparing Coefficients / Algebraic Fractions tasks I made back in 2022 to interwovenmaths.com/algebraic-id... My favourite part is these discussions, where [spoilers] you can show that 42 and 9 are in fact the only options, each with a nice interpretation.
Two algebraic fraction identities labelled a and b, asking which is easier. The coefficients 42 in a and 9 in b are highlighted in purpleTwo follow-up algebraic fraction identities labelled c and d. Question c asks why the identity with 14 highlighted is impossible; question d asks which other values of the highlighted coefficient d are possible.

They should never mix IGCSE and GCSE. Wow, Hammersmith has a lot of private schools. 10th best independent school in the country, well done! I strongly dislike living in a borough with grammar schools.

Jo Morgan @mathsjem.bsky.social · 21/08/2026
Interesting! Sutton (where I live) always looks high but it’s because we have five very highly selective grammar schools in the borough. They take their students from all over London and Surrey. So it’s the grammar schools of Sutton achieving those results, not the children who live in Sutton.

Ooh, I like this statistic! Today my totally non-selective state school achieved 21% Grade 9s in Maths. 🍾
