I am angry tonight. Because tonight ICE shot a New Yorker. They shot a New Yorker while his five year old child was in the car. ICE makes this city less safe. We want them out. Now.

This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed.

This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities.

Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery.

Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children.

Abolish ICE.

There‘s much to appreciate in Mamdani, but his insistence that culture isn’t a privilege of the rich is one of his strengths. It is reminiscent of how unions and the government treated it in the 1930s -art for the masses - paintings, music, opera, theater - democracy for all.

After decades of dem leadership pissing and moaning and fundraising about how complex an issue it is and how difficult the process is etc

A man in socks stands in front of a full-length mirror. He wags his finger in the air and speaks to his reflection, "Me? No no no... I don't dance. I would never." But he's fibbing to himself and us, reader. He knows it too because as soon as he finishes the conversation, he begins dancing. And dancing well. We can see that his bold and confident moves are clearly inspired by Gene Kelly and Bob Fosse.

Don’t miss it, New York. RSVP for the call at tr.ee/masscall
DEAR NEW YORK,
We are seeing an increase in ICE across the city. At the same time, threats to the midterm elections and crackdowns on dissent are ramping up. All of this is part of the Trump regime's authoritarian agenda to instill fear in us and seize more power.

The good news is we have a plan to fight back, and this Wednesday. August 19th at 6pm, we're holding a citywide call to share the plan and what you can do to get involved. Because it's going to take all of us.

We'll need to step out of our comfort zones, get trained, bring neighbors together, and be ready to take massive collective action.

RSVP for the call to hear the plan:

A tiny reminder when it is as hot as it is in much of the eastern US that water alone is not enough. On cycle rides they told us for every 2 bottles of water the third should be an electrolyte formula. If you're going somewhere that limits bottled water but has refill stations, bring the powders.

This is why cities need trees. Hard surfaces and parked cars can reach extreme temperatures, while shaded grass and tree-covered areas stay dramatically cooler. This is the urban heat island effect in one image: hard surfaces absorb and radiate heat, while vegetation and shade reduce it.

When utilized in literature review, LLMs consistently 1. fail to mention female authors in female-led literatures, 2. insist that men are more influential or more heavily cited when this is contradicted by objective citation counts, and 3. attribute women’s work to hallucinated male scholars.

Black text on a white page that reads:

Thank you to the thousands of City workers who kept New York running throughout the Knicks’ Finals run as well last night after yesterday’s celebrations.

To the members of the NYPD, FDNY, EMS, DSNY, DOT, and every City worker who showed up, did their job, and helped keep New Yorkers safe: I cannot thank you enough. Whether you were responding to emergencies, staffing events, directing traffic, cleaning our streets, or working behind the scenes in ways most people never see, your dedication made this historic moment possible for millions of New Yorkers.

By the time many of us woke up this morning, the city was ready for another day because of your work. I join millions of your fellow New Yorkers in saying thank you.
