Standplaats Kraków could really use some cash! @standplaatskrk.pl · 25/07/2026
 fipindustries on tumblr:

I cannot stand the parodies of modern major general,
they're overdone and simply not as good as the original.
They've done them about everything, whatever topic, big or small.
And when i notice one of them my eyes will always start to roll.

The diction’s always slurry when they rush the
complicated words, and adding many fricatives will turn
it so cacophonous. The slanted rhymes are silly and they
keep just making more and more, please someone stop
the parodies of modern major general.

The scanning of the lyrics in the meter is unbearable,
they emphazise the syllables in ways that are untenable,
in short in matters musical, prosodic and ephemeral, i
cannot stand the parodies of modern major general!

I'm in a WhatsApp group for a (big) birthday party which has more than 100 members, and someone has just LEFT A VOICE NOTE. I just don't think you can do that. I'd track down all 100 people and relay my comment in person before I did that.

The whole fury and might of the enemy must very soon be turned on us.

2

You don't debate fascists

10
HITLER:

Me writing about men like bad male authors write about women ‘He charged into the room, pert testicles bouncing gaily. I saw a scar & wondered if he’d had a vasectomy. He opened his plump lips, full of promise but annoying words came out...something about a football match’

Discworld QOTD, from Feet of Clay
No more kings. Vimes had difficulty in articulating why this should be so, why the concept resonated in his very bones. After all, a good many of the patricians had been as bad as any king. But they were...sort of...bad on equal terms. What set Vimes's teeth on edge was the idea that kings were a different kind of human being. A higher lifeform. Somehow magical.

Well, it seems Bluesky IS just @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com, @scalzi.com and @diane.dianeduane.com talking about the intricacies of writing, fountain pens and delicious recipes after all. I‘m very much happy with that.
Screenshot of Neil Gaiman quoting the Arte of English Poesie on how to interprete commas, colons and periods while reading aloud and John Scalzi reporting how reading allowed allowes you to find mistakes in your written words.
