Only 71,850 people have registered to vote in the new Higher Education constituency for the Seanad, despite a potential electorate of between 800,000 and 1,000,000 graduates. The unified 6-seater is open to graduates of over 80 higher level institutions, not just the historic TCD and NUI.

Lots of AI in academic writing discourse. Knowledge advancement simply cannot be motivated by a race to publish more, and I think this is a main culprit of the current disaster. It might be because I am in the humanities, but to me part of the solution is the return of curiosity.

This is extraordinarily bad, as even the UK copyright libraries (e.g. Cambridge) have moved over to frequently only acquiring the ebook version of new publications. If you don't own the hard copy, you're just renting and you are at the mercy of the publisher.
