Growing up, my dad never let me quit anything I signed up for or joined. He'd say I had to finish out the season or term, and then I didn't have to sign up again. His concern was that "every time you quit something, it gets easier." Can't say that didn't sink in with me.

I played more of that Wolverine game last night, and it really is disappointing how old the combat gets during the first real mission. The drop-off is a lot faster here, but it does remind me of how 8 hours into Final Fantasy XVI there was the realization that the fun was already over.

If I tabled at an indie or a small press con, I would be miffed if it was mostly people pushing merchandise for corporate stuff because it's not the right space for it. But at a big show or a general pop culture con, that's what people attending are typically there to buy so it's a non-issue there.

Lancelot du Lac is a pretty interesting exercise in stripping the tragic form of any excess. No monologues for characters to explicate their position, everyone performing as if their faces were unmoving masks, and a constant cacophony of rattling armor as the most consistent soundtrack. Loved it!

Rebel Ridge is such a cool movie. The way the tension and the desperation constantly escalates as a man goes to war with an entire police department without anyone in the movie dying is a real credit to Jeremy Saulnier.
