Mark O. Stack @markwwc.bsky.social · 19hWhy make a magazine all about knights, swords, and questing? The simple answer is that it speaks to me! And the longer answer is that the "knight in shining armor" remains a potent image for exploring the pursuit of higher ideals, how we fail them, how we grow from that pursuit even in failure. 031
Mark O. Stack @markwwc.bsky.social · 12/10/2026I've been alternating between these two books, and there is a nice overlap in their interest in how loneliness breeds these interior narratives. 020

Mark O. Stack @markwwc.bsky.social · 08/10/2026If you are interested in covering The Candle, please hit me up so I can get you a review copy. We have some killer stories and art in here! 064
Mark O. Stack @markwwc.bsky.social · 06/10/2026It's about the violence of growing up, the fear of speaking your own thoughts, feeling stupid for struggling, and how hard it is to like the person you chose to become every day. And, yeah, it's about a knight who goes searching for The Grail. That's still there. 040
Mark O. Stack @markwwc.bsky.social · 07/09/2026It's such a relief that the perfect comic has already been made. Way less pressure. 030
Mark O. Stack @markwwc.bsky.social · 01/09/2026Lancelot du Lac is a pretty interesting exercise in stripping the tragic form of any excess. No monologues for characters to explicate their position, everyone performing as if their faces were unmoving masks, and a constant cacophony of rattling armor as the most consistent soundtrack. Loved it! 031
Mark O. Stack @markwwc.bsky.social · 15/08/2026In a couple weeks, you can find me at Cape & Cowl Con slinging copies of Travis Muñoz and the Fire of the Aztecs along with the rest of my backlist. Ask me about The Candle and I'll show you a look at what's coming with that project. 000
Mark O. Stack @markwwc.bsky.social · 11/08/2026Fun idea here, but it doesn't really go anywhere new after twenty pages. Hard to fault a novella for that, though. 030
Mark O. Stack @markwwc.bsky.social · 23/07/2026This remains a very special issue. There's no hidden gems with a character like Spider-Man. Just a gem. 040

Mark O. Stack @markwwc.bsky.social · 21/06/2026New Avengers volume 1 has Finch going for a much more subdued "guy gets ripped in half" moment after such a disgusting one in Avengers Disassembled. More as the ripping in halfs continue for 20 years of publishing. 220
Mark O. Stack @markwwc.bsky.social · 21/06/2026Incredible bit buried in SECRET WAR's character files is the note about how whoever was unlucky enough to be assigned the Hobgoblin gear is going to get tuned the fuck up by Spider-Man. 140
Mark O. Stack @markwwc.bsky.social · 20/06/2026The Spectacular Spider-Man: Disassembled is a bizarre storyline. Early Humberto Ramos art pairs wonderfully with the transformation Peter goes through, though. 120
Mark O. Stack @markwwc.bsky.social · 14/06/2026Avengers #503 with a brutal gut-punch. Bendis always impresses me with how he writes superhero comics where the characters have varying levels of familiarity with each other and events. Would anyone have told Strange about the twins? Asking that question gives you a really strong character moment. 160
Mark O. Stack @markwwc.bsky.social · 08/06/2026From Young Offenders to The Relentless Lark, Jane might be my favorite character to write. I won't fully be done with the set of cape comics I've written until her story with her dad wraps up. 030
Mark O. Stack @markwwc.bsky.social · 07/06/2026Some frankly wild stuff going on in the first two chapters of this book: - the antagonist was liberated from Dachau - the report on him speculates he's Jewish based on his earlobes You know what the mid-century English are like and they still find a way to shock you when you read them. 2170
Mark O. Stack @markwwc.bsky.social · 05/06/2026This is the first time in my lifetime that an Avengers cover lineup has been 60% characters wearing jeans 050
Mark O. Stack @markwwc.bsky.social · 13/05/2026I want to write more Young Offenders at some point, but in general I'd like to write more comics about teens in high pressure, genre-situations getting absolutely snippy with each other 010
