Mark Sanderlin @marksanderlin.bsky.social · 12/12/2024Audible currently lists those titles as “narrated by virtual voice”. But you could see a scenario where Celeb A gets paid handsomely to clone their voice in exchange for slapping their name on the product. Some companies already offer dead celebs as a voice option. Ghoulish. 040

Mark Sanderlin @marksanderlin.bsky.social · 02/12/2024A MAJOR shoutout to the indie authors I’ve worked with who, almost to a person, take my contract seriously when I say “payment due on delivery”. Bless you 🙏🏻 They know the bill is coming so the money is ready to go. Why can’t businesses & non profits do the same? 030
Mark Sanderlin @marksanderlin.bsky.social · 02/12/2024The number of times I’ve sent a “hey, you’re now outside of your own effing net 30 terms, where’s my money?” and the response is something like “oh we forgot about you, we’ll submit that now” with NO apology? Appalling. 240
Mark Sanderlin @marksanderlin.bsky.social · 02/12/2024The most respectful bosses/producers/casting people/music directors are the ones who have been freelancers themselves. They GET IT. They understand net 30 is BS with and are way more likely to have a check waiting for you at the end of the gig, and are sincerely apologetic if payment is delayed. 150
Mark Sanderlin @marksanderlin.bsky.social · 02/12/2024The insouciance of people in charge of hiring or paying contractors is really galling sometimes.
