Reminder that earlier naturalization leads to better integration of immigrants. Extending the period necessary for settlement in the UK will have exactly the opposite effect of what Starmer and the Labour leadership claim. "Migrants first have to prove themselves" is a nativist trope and bad policy.

Does being the corresponding author (CA) matter? After serving on many selection committees for grants, promotions, and hiring in EU sociology, I’d say no. Even author order matters little. What counts are solo publications and diverse co-authorships. So don’t bother being CA.

In a 2014 #ESR paper with #HCebolla, we used the term ‘Bush effect’ to describe how high SES students with poor grades still access higher education. Now, 'Biden effect' could describe compensatory advantage against criminal conviction. US pres nicely exemplify intergen inequality. What next?
