Wild here: China has been growing steadily for years and is laying a zillion miles of railways, with a huge green energy infrastructure that will support them for decades and here’s this guy talking to us like we’re idiots because he thinks the world’s nastiest Nazi zillionaires are, what, wizards?

This is what passes for a Labour-friendly assessment in the Guardian. It is basically soft-left delusion. Starmer & co won't change course because the aim all along has been to marginalise the left and the Greens make a perfectly serviceable vehicle for doing that.

Sociology regularly reveals this paradox: that people will vote for rightwing disruptors not because they share their politics but because they are fed up with the system. It's almost as if the system generates its own opposition in a guise that ensures no actual disruption.

After Reform UK seized control of Staffordshire county council last May, new leader Ian Cooper made a promise.
His mission was to "keep under the radar" by demonstrating "professionalism and

By December, Cooper had quit as leader and been expelled from the party following allegations of racism. His replacement was also accused of racism and quit within days of being chosen.

The most relevant of these points was that where Professor Stock had said she had omitted certain work from her teaching because of the Policy Statement, in fact that work had been included in her reading lists for students. This has some relevance because (a) it showed that there were issues of fact which the University appropriately needed to respond to; and (b) those errors undermined the only evidence of "harm" that the Of had relied upon in th

It’s striking that none of these guys ever say the need to urgently rearm means we need to, say, sharply jack up taxes on the top 50% of earners. A thing that would surely work, and quite easily too. If it’s that important, then it’s surely a must.
Lord Robertson says the government needs to abandon the "lethargic thought process of the post Cold War" era and instead get onto a proper war footing like
Ukraine
Finally, Lord Robertson says there has to be a national conversation on defence - something that Sir Keir Starmer said would happen 18 months ago. The public needs to understand the threat and to realise that there will have to be some difficult spending choices made for the UK genuinely to bolster its security in a "very very turbulent world"
He finishes by saying: "We need the whole country to wake up. The clock is ticking"

Abbeyleix, Co. Laois. I haven’t seen this yellow plastic covering on shop windows since the 1970s, this is a real survivor.
An old fashioned wooden shop front, painted blue, with the name Leinster House over the door. It has two display windows on either side of the door, and they’re both full of clothes on mannequins. Both windows are also covered in that weird yellow plastic to protect goods from sun damage, so everything for sake looks…yellow.
