Not a lawyer, but "SEC. 209. ENEPA TECHNOLOGIES" (pages 74-94) appears to require creation of AI tools for a) company use to generate environmental docs and b) agency use to review environmental docs. AI-generated forms reviewed by AI tools in understaffed/underfunded agencies! What could go wrong.

I promise you Fetterman's dream scenario is that the Dems end up with 51 senators so he can flip over the GOP. No one should be counting on this man to caucus with the Dems if it matters at all in the 120th.

‼️ Today, the Senate unveiled a permitting reform bill that would make it easier for fossil fuel + tech companies to steamroll community opposition to their polluting, climate-wrecking projects. This bill would benefit Big Tech and Big Oil, not working families.

Latest on permitting reform discussions. The reply is the important part here. I do not understand how you can ever get to the point where you've resolved this with this administration. How do you plan to draw up legislation that will reign in an administration that has shown it ignores the law?

Manuel Salgado @manuelsalgado.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Yeah this is once again a permitting reform account for the foreseeable future because although it is obvious to the vast majority of Americans that the admin are bad faith actors with no intention of allowing clean energy to succeed, a group of people and Senate Dems seem impervious to this info.

A huge problem for Democratic governance is lack of trust in the federal government. So Democrats should *definitely* help pass a bill that guts democratic participation in major infrastructure built in people’s backyards.

And to those who often set the pace of energy transition discourse, like @volts.wtf, if you don't want data center opposition to overspill its borders, a good place to start is opposing a permitting deal that is going to piss off a heck of a lot of people by bulldozing over what they care about.

If you live in the West, as I do in a rural area, you know people love their home. And by home, that means not just the four walls that keep you warm & safe. It means the rivers we run & fish. The forests we hike & hunt. And the wild, free public lands that invoke our own human freedom.

Critically, opposition to political efforts to erode bedrock environmental laws cuts across ideological & geographic lines in the West. In fact, Republicans are increasingly in tune with environmental protection! Catch the fucking wave, Democrats!!!

There's an enormous amount of data that people in the Western U.S. do not want politicians to erode environmental protections for the sake of energy production. And yet this is precisely what will happen with the permitting deal negotiated by @whitehouse.senate.gov & @heinrich.senate.gov.

Folks weakening the Endangered Species Act to lock in a permitting reform deal (looking at you, @whitehouse.senate.gov & @heinrich.senate.gov) do so at their peril. conbio.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...
Paper Abstract: ABSTRACT
Conservation professionals expect increased attempts to weaken the US Endangered Species Act (ESA) during the second Trump
administration. As such, it is important to understand Americans’ level of support for the ESA. Prior research indicates that
support for the ESA remained consistently strong across four studies conducted over a two-decade period, 1996–2015. The research
presented here extends those observations to six studies conducted over a three-decade period, 1996–2025. We find that support
of the ESA over that period has remained consistently high, at about 84%, and opposition has remained consistently low, at about
12%. We also report on other trends and patterns in support for the ESA, highlighting high and growing support for the ESA among
politically conservative people and the absence of any rural–urban divide in support for the ESA

Andy Beshear has an entire chapter in his new book about backing the LGBTQ community and it's worth a read. He talks about how the anti-trans ads were tested in KY during his election and how vetoing anti-trans legislation didn't hurt his reelection campaign.
However the anti-trans ads had less to do with Kentucky and more to do with the fact that we were in an election. Terry Schilling, the head of the APP, decided to test the ads in our election to determine whether or not the issue could win votes for the Republican Party. Earlier in the summer of 2019, Scholling had partnered with a behavioral science firm to try to find a wedge issue that resonated with suburban voters. That's right. The anti-trans ads did not come out of some firmly held conviction but was a purely political stance. Their research landed on trans athletes, specifically trans women, competing in women's sports. They tested their theory in the 2019 Kentucky gubernatorial general election. Although I won, APP considered their test successful, because their research showed the ads delivered thirteen thousand votes for Trump Lite, which made the race tighter than anticipated. You might hask how, in this political climate, I was reelected after vetoing the anti-trans bill. Because people respect authentic faith. The day I vetoed it, I explained my why. I said I believe all children are children of God and that I don't want people picking on these kids. I then countered their anti-trans ads with commercials talking about good jobs, healthcare, roads and bridges, public education, and public safety. The result? The biggest win of my career. So don't tell me the Democratic Party should stop fighting for the rights of all people. Just explain your authentic why, and then get back to focusing on issues that touch all our lives on a daily basis.

“Renewable energy is unstoppable because it’s cheaper!” Folks, hate to break it to you, but the *cost* of electricity is not decisive, especially AI data centers. And that’s a major problem given the hundreds of billions of dollars being shoveled into AI’s “speed to power” push.

What I hear most from those who live where large energy projects take place, including fossil fuel, petrochemical, & now data centers, is their fear that "permitting reform" is designed to cut them out of the democratic process, to speed past public input which for them is too often life or death.
