I’m liberal and I have no problem with asylum seekers. However, I’m also a woman, and one thing that every liberal is afraid to point out is that the majority of asylum seekers are men, men from vastly different cultures than ours. They’re being handed out leaflets explaining that sexual assault and rape are illegal in the UK. Some of these cultures are also directly tied to religions that simply don’t see women as equals (please don’t try to argue Christianity into it, as it’s plainly irrelevant in the Western sphere in the 21st century). I’ve personally met refugees from several different countries, like Iran and Cambodia, and they were lovely people - I’ve never met any “bad apples”, and yes, majority of people opposing asylum seekers are simply racists but a smaller chunk of people just want to make sure that if we accept migrants from different cultures, they get properly educated before being integrated into our society.

Hi! This is racist propaganda from fascists meant to turn you against asylum seekers and non-white people.
Regardless of whether or not most asylum-seekers are men, the idea that that makes immigrants as a group or that non-white religions as a culture makes them specially more misogynistic than western countries is just racism. The entire western world is currently going through and driving a global fascist movement defined around specific anti-feminism, and the UK in particular is rife with racism and an ongoing anti-trans genocide. There's really no grounds to argue that the UK is specially more enlightened than the cultures immigrants are coming from, especially when it's caught under the same global fascist movement trying to re-legalize sexual assault and rape.
Making those acts a crime really doesn't mean much for the enlightened anti-misogyny of a country when statistically speaking, most perpetrators get away with it.
