Great to meet with my friends at @magpieprojectuk.bsky.social in Parliament last week to discuss supporting children growing up in poverty, especially families in the asylum system. 💜 Thank you to the team for the incredible work you do supporting mums and little ones through the housing crisis.

Just a small campaign update. We are so pleased that the new child poverty strategy addresses some of our asks. BUT The hostile immigration environment does not just tip children in to poverty - it legally mandates that they stay there. We don't think it's right. Do you?

Just leaving this here if anyone wants to check it out...We are housing not only families fleeing violence, but also families who simply find themselves homeless in hotels for weeks on end. If you are thinking 'that doesn't sound so bad' - remain curious a bit longer and listen to our families...

We don't give out clothes in plastic bags - ever it is a RULE. Plastic bag of clothes don't offer the dignity and respect that our mums and minis deserve. We want to give gifts with love, not tatty handouts. So - we need a constant supply of cloth tote bags. Got any? Send them our way!🛍️

More than 13,000 people were seen sleeping rough on the streets of London in 2024/25 - the highest on record. This is almost 4x higher than 15 years ago, in 2008/2009, and a 10% increase in just 12 months.

Louder for those at the back - nobody staying in a home office hotel is an illegal immigrant - every single one is going through the legally recognised process of seeking and being assessed for asylum. I don't understand how MPs can call people illegal with impunity - they KNOW they are not.

As Ramadan approaches, did you know that: the Home Office hotels where many asylum seekers are housed refuse to adjust meal times to serve suhoor and iftar meals, so that the people housed there rely on cold “snack boxes” full of sugary crap that makes fasting much more difficult
