Too right! Since 1996, inflation has eroded half the value of #LegalAid fees. To close that gap, the Ministry of Justice would have to double them all. But this is not a business: it is an essential public service. Alarm bells! 🔔 🔗 www.lawgazette.co.uk/news/labour-...
A graphic of a speech bubble which reads:

“It is the equivalent of asking a publican to sell a pint today at [1996] prices (around £1.50 to £1.70) whilst paying 2026 wages, rent, utilities, taxes and supplier costs. No sensible person would expect that business to survive.”

“We’ve seen a quick uptake by landlords of s13 rent increases, with clients needing a lot of help to understand their options.
This is not an area covered by legal aid unless there is also a threat of possession, so our free evening sessions are now seeing more clients not eligible for legal aid, alongside the ongoing issues of disrepair and homelessness.”(3/4)

Hope looks different depending on who you are. For a family facing eviction, it's a solicitor who picks up the phone. For someone whose benefits have been stopped, it's an adviser who understands the system. For a worker who's been treated unfairly, it's knowing they don't have to face it alone.
