I said #FuckICE and #FuckSpotify last year when Spotify chose to broadcast ICE recruitment ads. ❌ I spoke with my money and moved it to #Tidal. ✔️ Yesterday I got this email about Tidal's stance on #AI. I appreciate proactively trying to get a grip on the AI slopidemic. Love to see it. ❤️

Tidal's policy update as emailed on 6/29 regarding their stance on AI-generated music. Highlights include:

• Tidal will identify and tag AI-generated music in our app. Listeners will see an "AI" badge next to music we detect as wholly AI-generated.

• Tidal will not tolerate AI-generated music that impersonates an artist or group, or that facillitages fraudulent activity. They are implementing automatic tools to remove those releases immediately, ongoing basis.

• Tidal will not allow music that is 100% AI-generated to be monetized. No royalties will go to such releases, nor will AI-generated uploads be eligible for direct-to-fan sales.

Tidal plans to expand the policies to music that is substantially AI-generated when AI detection technology is sufficiently reliable to do so, they say.

Changes start July 15th.
