I’ve been listening to the Casuals podcast for about a month now. I’m really enjoying it other than how much time they spend on American football (I just don’t enjoy it. It takes too dang long). But they have an Australian on their staff and talk about Aussie rules football. It’s bananas!

My wife had a minor outpatient procedure, requiring 20 minutes of anesthesia. I signed a release taking responsibility for her care. She cannot sign legal documents for 24 hours because she cannot consent; if I took advantage of that I’d be guilty of a crime. This standard should be widely applied.

Your reminder why many women, when asked what they’d do if there were no men for a day, said they’d go for a walk at night and look at the stars. Also, why we’d choose the bear.

y'all if you get mad about women saying "choose the bear" please look up bear assault and murder statistics and then contrast with human men. It is objectively reasonable to choose the bear.

this administration illegally shut down federal agencies, impounded money from Congress, set up for-profit concentration camps and sent children there. Much as we love bookshops, they need more than love to keep going. A bookshop can be the centre of a whole community. Bookshops support authors; organize events. A thriving bookshop teaches the next generation that literacy matters. So don't just love your bookshop: actually buy books there.

ICE abducted a WBB player while she was traveling with her Kentucky State team in early August at Louisville airport. She has been imprisoned for 1.5 months and denied care for a serious ACL injury. It is the responsibility of universities and the NCAA to protect their players. They have failed.
Aminata Seck, 26, a student-athlete at Kentucky State University, was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport while traveling with her school's basketball team Aug. 7, said Sadiqa Reynolds, a lawyer helping coordinate Seck's case.

Seck's team was headed to New York for a tournament, and she was taken into custody after going through airport security, said Reynolds, former president and CEO of the Louisville Urban League.

We don’t have great data on mortality in adults, but the British Army expected to lose 10% of its highland soldiers at recruitment *to measles* during World War One. And that didn’t even cover the resulting immune naivety that results from a measles infection. So good reasons for vaccination.

Our statement regarding MLS NEXT Pro and their handling of a recent disciplinary issue:
During a recent MLS NEXT Pro match, a male head coach committed two deliberate acts of physical abuse and sexism against a female official -- squeezing her hand and refusing to let go after being told to stop three times. This physical intimidation was compounded by a demeaning, sexist remark to the official: "Don't forget, this is a man's game."

MLS NEXT Pro investigated and responded with a two-game suspension and other non-suspension discipline.

U.S. Soccer policy states a “forceful grab” like this requires a minimum three-game suspension. Acts of discrimination also require a minimum three-game suspension. MLS NEXT Pro’s own manual also states that coaches are held to “a higher professional standard than players.”

The League’s response falls drastically short of the right message to the participants, the referees, and the public. It needs to be reevaluated.

Women make every level of this game better. They should not have to endure intimidation or degrading comments to prove it. Our female officials have proven their excellence on the world stage. They deserve the same respect, dignity, and safe working environment as every other official.

I didn't hold back. These centers are a blight on higher education and we should say so. dailyiowan.com/2026/09/15/u...
“Center for Intellectual Freedom is a really Orwellian name because they’re forcing mandatory classes on students who don’t want it,” Ray said. “Just as a matter of pure consistency, if closing African American Studies was just a financial decision, the center should be closed.” Ray said universities do a better job fostering free thought than any other institution — including churches, workplaces, and the military.

“You can say and do things at universities that you cannot do anywhere else,” he said. “So the notion that universities are a problem when it comes to free speech is just a lie.”
