Nintendo has filed many patents over time and in the vast majority of cases they come to nothing. However, the latest patent from Nintendo would be ideal for a fishing-type game. Yes, they have filed a patent for an attachable crank which features a clickable wheel. The device attaches onto the Joy-Con using magnets and has a rotary disc which is tracked by the mouse sensor through a window.
