SFMTA beginning construction of the curbside bikeways on Valencia Street—replacing the flawed center bikeway—is a great step forward. Now, the City needs to extend the curbside bikeways to Cesar Chavez Street and widen the bikeways for the entirety of Valencia, ideally in 2025.

SFMTA’s plan to not expand parking meter hours in the evening and on Sundays is disastrous and inequitable, and runs counter to the goals and policies SFMTA and the City claim to prioritize. SFMTA must expand parking meter hours to fund Muni and other transportation improvements.

SFMTA should be making daylighting intuitive by installing bike corrals, bikeshare stations, planters or benches in daylighting spaces. In the meantime, ignoring state law and allowing cars to be store within 20 feet of crosswalks decrease public safety. We need leadership now.

. @RollOverEasy.bsky.social was the first radio show to broadcast live from an “autonomous” car and…the car unexpectedly stopped in a huge puddle and the radio show hosts had to exit—through the puddle—after the car called customer support and no one answered. “Autonomous” cars won’t save us.

San Francisco is required by state law to prohibit parking a car within 20 feet of a crosswalk. But—instead of following state law—the City is delaying implementation and proposing to paint 10,000+ curbs. The City should install physical infrastructure in these spaces instead.

It’s finalized: Prop K won 55% to 45% with 206,042 votes in favor—Upper Great Highway will be converted into a park! To put that in context, Prop K got more yes votes than Mayor-Elect Lurie and Mayor Breed got in first-choice votes combined and more than Lurie got in total votes!
