Here are some helpful reminders of how to lock down your phones and who to call if you need legal support. Remember, we’re together and we’re brave!
SIGNAL SECURITY
CHECKLIST
BASICS:
• Don't send anything you don't want read back to you in court.
• Have in-person conversations as often as reasonable.
• If you're in a group chat with people you don't know well, assume it is not secure.
• If a group member is arrested or their phone is confiscated, notify an admin immediately so they can be removed from chats.
• Delete sensitive messages for everybody-this must be done within 24 hours. After that, messages can only be deleted for you, not for others.
SETTINGS:
ACCOUNTS
• Registration lock: ON
• CHATS
• Generate link previews: OFF
• Share contacts with OS: OFF
PRIVACY
• Phone number: Who can see my number: NOBODY
• Set a username for yourself in Settings to make yourself searchable with more privacy
• Disappearing messages: set a default time period
• Hide screen in App Switcher: ON
• Screen lock: ON
NOTIFICATIONS
• Show: no name or content (super important!)
• Screen lock timeout: SHORT
• Biometrics: DISABLED (especially during high-risk activity)
KEYBOARD
• Incognito keyboard: ON (Android only)
• Advanced: Always relay calls: ON
• PHONE (OS-LEVEL)
Passcode: 6-digit minimum (stronger preferred)
IMPORTANT REMINDER
• Disable cloud backups if possible
• Deleting messages reduces risk - it does NOT guarantee deletion if:
• Someone screenshots
• A device is seized before deletion
Signal is a TOOL, not a shield.
• Messages are backed up elsewhere BE PREPARED

Photos of newly arrived immigrants at Ellis Island. Augustus Sherman took the photos between 1902 and 1920 when he worked as the Chief Registry Clerk. Striking to me how the outfits all look good because they have a discernible silhouette (shape and drape).
Two photo. The first is of a Romanian piper; the second is of three Georgians who were employees of the "Buffalo Bill Wild West Show."
Two photos. The first is of a Romanian shepherd. The second is of an Algerian man.Two photos. The first is of a Ruthenian woman. The second is of a Guadeloupean woman (apparently actually en route to Montreal, Canada). Two photos. The first is of a Greek soldier. The second is of an Indian boy.

Ebola can be stopped — but only if world leaders prioritize public health
The deadly disease was identified half a century ago in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is unacceptable that it continues to take lives.

The UK is likely going to see its hottest spring day on record by some margin in the next few days. The climate we built for no longer exists. The climate we’re in isn’t even well-defined, as things continue to change faster than we observe the extremes. We are underprepared.

The most exciting thing about all this is that they allow renters and ppl who live in apartments or who don't have driveways/gardens/their own roof to join in with the electric transition. They're also relatively low-cost, and very simple to use. Plug and play. More of this!

Watching the northeast coast roll by under the spring sunshine. My favourite bit remains the staging area for (I presume) the Block Island Wind Farm — all the giant components on the New London State Pier (and across the river from General Dynamics Electric Boat).
Huge tubular wind turbine components are standing on end. A crane is next to them. In the foreground are smaller components.

Israel’s holocaust of Palestinians reached a horrific new low today. No different than trains heading to gas chambers. Shame on everyone silent about this.
The bill has been approved. Israeli prisons will turn into guillotines for Palestinians.

Hundreds will be executed in the next few weeks. 9300 hostages now in Israeli custody.
