More likely, they think you're criticizing the democrats, and therefore probably a socialist and not a proper democrat

What "principles"? Centrism has never had fixed tenets. It's an entirely relational label that means "between the two extremes." When one party sprints right and the other follows to compromise, the center moves. It's geometry, not dogma. You're confusing being centrist with being moderate.

Moving jobs overseas or hiring foreign workers is capitalism. Policing children's bodies is fascism. State-run sports programs that prohibit minority participation is fascism.

Sure. Marxists and Keynesians predicted all of this long before even the internet. Capital automates to gut payroll and offload unpaid labor onto the customer, even when the service gets worse. It's not innovation; it's just textbook wage suppression that destroys the local customer base.

Consider whether AI is actually structurally novel. People said the steam engine and mainframe computers broke Marxism, too. But Marx wrote extensively on automation. Current AI is just advanced capital equipment. Fancy weighted dice. It hasn't changed the core relationship between capital and labor

Sure - same here. It's how I got into what I do. But all the ppl I listed had the same reaction. Why re-invent wheels when the car already exists and SO MUCH WORK has been done to get us rolling in the right direction? Lenin's 'What is to be Done?' is short, free, and a lot of it will sound familiar

Probably. Just as likely that the format and imagery were ripped from other AI-generated stuff.
Basically the same image, but it's talking about "Global Warming. Two choices. one planet. choose wisely"

This is what a lot of people don't understand about pain meds. There is a physiological cost to NOT treating pain. Treating your pain can make it possible to do other interventions that can help reduce your pain in the long run. A similar argument can be made for psych meds and psychotherapy.

One of the biggest mistakes that liberals make when they hear stuff like this is "Republicans are stupid." They're not stupid. They're lying. There's a very important, strategic difference.

No, he's just lying.

No. First, you can't add Article II qualifications by statute. Second, the state decides what a 'felony' is. If you bar felons, whoever controls prosecutors will just criminalize political opponents, which has happened to leftists and Black organizers for a century. Not how you do politics.

No, we can't. Never, ever try to fix a political problem with the legal system. Instead, let's change the culture so that nobody will want to vote for a convicted felon. LIke the good ol' days when America was great.

How does outing Republicans for using "socialism" as a catch-all for "people we don't like" assisting in the Red Scare 2.0? Seems like it would have the opposite effect. (Not defending the Bulwark because I don't know anything about the organization - just trying to understand)

Q: “How do you define socialism personally?” Vance: “I think in reality, what it actually means in the American context is that you want to replace American workers with foreign workers, and you want boys to play in girls' sports.”

Lots of experience, but no time. ALWAYS happy to engage or answer political economy questions on here, but my day job and political work keep me busy enough I can't dive into any new projects just now. If looking for inspiration, I suggest grabbing books by Stiglitz, Keynes, Marx, Klein, and Lenin.

Really, people, build a small food pantry if you can. The supply shocks are coming, and people who have never done without will crash the West's fragile supermarket system by panic buying as soon as a product or too start to disappear. So basic prep is the most sensible thing in the world.

You're mad because the Democrats haven't been able to get rid of trump, after 2024. I'm mad because my mom called the local Democratic Party headquarters in 1994, to see what she could to do volunteer, to help Ann Richards retain the governorship, and they said NO EVENTS WERE PLANNED IN OUR AREA.

I'd go a step further: there was never a correct "moderate" stance. Just about any time you see someone who identifies as a "moderate" getting something right, it's because they've adopted (or coopted) it from the left.

This is a problem with trying to place politics on a single axis. I think you mean that their policies are right of "moderate." The "center" is a moving target that moves right every time Dems pull the "third way" card.

How do you defeat a president who’s trying to sabotage the midterms? 1. Use drop boxes. 2. Vote EARLY in person. 3. If mailing in your ballot, put it in the mail AT LEAST two weeks before Election Day. 4. Vote in person on Election Day. 5. Share these instructions with everyone you know.

ICE is already showing up near voting sites, bolstering lawsuit against armed agents at polls
Among the newest examples is an ICE detention that took place in the same area California voters had to pass through to reach a ballot drop box.
