Hello October! It actually seems that the fall colours and leaf drop are late this year in the Yukon. I would have thought most leaves would normally be down by now...

While Pronghorn are not thought of some of the great overland migrants - they actually are pretty impressive movers. Here at their northern edge, they are moving south in raggedy herds, 100s of kms in a quest to find great, snow free areas to winter. #mammals

Longhorn #bees (probably Melissodes druriellus) are back at Legacy Park for the fall. Males (like this one) seem to emerge a little earlier than females. These were on goldenrod but as more of the little white asters (symphyotrichum) comes into bloom they will shift over there. #bugsky
Bee on yellow goldenrod flowers with very long orange antennae pointed down, greenish (celadon is the word that comes to mind) marbled eyes, lower face white, lite golden hair on thorax and face.

The white-faced heron has specialised oil droplets in their retinal cones that act like natural sunglasses, filtering out scattered blue-light glare. It also enhances contrast so it can spot a darting fish or a tadpole beneath the surface. 🪞🌞😎🐟 #Birds #BirdPhotography #ECK #Heron #Wildlife
