👉Finnish study finds Long COVID associated with changes in brain activity, rather than inflammation 🧠 This study showed some different results than what we typically see. Researchers did NOT find signs of increased inflammation in LC patients’ brains, compared to healthy controls. 1/

👉Short term antiviral treatments don't work. It's somewhat surprising after we've all heard the anecdotes of some patients improving on 5-10 days of Paxlovid. Unfortunately, trial results do not show a benefit here....

Such important info here! Anecdotally, we know of many people who still developed LC even after taking Paxlovid, so the findings are disappointing - if not terribly surprising. However, this is great information to have. Now, we know to focus on other prophylactic treatments such as Metformin.

Monash and Bond University researchers reviewed 14 long COVID treatments (antivirals, metformin, IVIG, mAbs, etc) and found the evidence is still thin. Only 6 had any randomized trial data, and none had enough proof yet to guide treatment decisions. www.frontiersin.org/journals/med...
